I tried this app when I first got my DX. Loved the App but it was slow, lots of lags and had FC's. I thought I'd try it again. Went to the market, checked out comments. Only has a 3 1/2 star rating, lots of comments mirroring the problems I had. Too bad. Loved the functionality of the app, couldn't tolerate the issues. Fix the problems dude and I'd gladly pay 5x what you're charging for it.

I just tested the newest version and it is so much faster than before. I have about 2000 contacts and now I can finally search by company with no delay. He said it should be release shortly.

Changes from version 1.28:
- Improved search speed.
- Improved keypad responsiveness speed.
- Added "white" skin for daylight visability.
- Added a second setting for skin, so user can toggle between two skins right from the main menu.
- Added support for searching Hebrew and Russian. If you need other languages - email us.
- Changed keypad "blip" sound to a click sound (irritated users).
- Telephony - added option to replace '+' with a digit sequence.
- Entering '*' in search shows ALL contacts.
- Paste - appends from clipboard to existing number.
- Fixed call scheduling bug in new 2.2 devices.

Love the new skin. I have a suggestion. Whey displaying company names, if the person name is long the company name barely shows up because it is in parenthesis. Is there any way to make an option for a 3 line display to list the company name under the persons name. You might want to even have an option to display the company name first and then the contacts name.

I got the new release from the market, and now somehow I'm unregistered - this isn't good. I forget where the password is you sent - how can I get reregistered? I really don't like having the registration tied to my Paypal, because my Paypal address isn't my gmail address. No, I really don't want to change that, because I just won't trust any of my financial information to a cell phone.

If you downloaded from the market, then how can you tell you're not registered ? what message do you see ?

When I try to call someone, I can search for the number and then it pops up that I haven't paid, and won't let me make the call. I think I'm confusing two programs, sorry, it's aCar that uses Paypal. Now I'm confused. Did I pay for this? Was it a pay app? Because I pay for every app I use on my phone.

This message is displayed by the new Google Licensing system - it means there is no record of a purchase you made at the Android Market (Google's market on your device).
If you send me your gmail email, I can try and see if I have a record of a purchase you made on Google checkout.

Some may consider this a bad business making, but I feel I have to lay the cards on the table here:
I have been getting lots of indications lately that there's a whole lot of piracy going on with the aTAKEphONE versions I post for sale out of the Android market - seems my licensing mechanism was hacked, and it looks like there are a lot more people willing to use pirated applications in the Android world than there are in the Palm world.
So I am trying to figure out a way to better protect my work and business (since this is my main source of income these days). This is why I am holding back a little on updating the versions out of the Android Market.
I hope I can come up with a solution as soon as possible (any ideas are most welcome), short of building my own licensing server, etc.

First I just want to say Thank you.. many developers would never admit to such... and in that spirit.. I'll let you know that I was once one of those 'pirates' who had Takephone for the Palm that was not paid for. However, I am also one of those pirates who actually does buy software, eventually. I just hate the 'limited' trials that most licensing systems provide. They usually do not have enough time for me to test the product fully, or usually cut features from the demo making it useless in many cases.
I eventually did buy TakePhone for the Palm, and managed to get 3 friends to also purchase it. It's an amazingly simple piece of software that I always wonder why it's functionality was never put into the phones dialer directly. When people used to ask me what my top 3 apps for the palm were, Takephone was always #2 (Right behind Agendus from Iambic.. I really miss that software) I have also since purchased aTakephone for my Android.
But then again, I live in an area where Market purchases are allowed.
So here's a suggestion... and I'm sure it won't be popular but perhaps it should be explored. Perhaps an 'Ad-sponsored' version for areas which cannot utilize the market (or even put it in the market as well).
There are pros and cons of this approach, both to the original product and potential pirates.. but it is one way in which you might be able to put out a version that wouldn't necessarily harm your revenue directly, and at the same time perhaps even make a few from the ads.
I know some apps are totally ad driven so there must be some sort of profit motivation there, and while it won't stop the most die hard of hackers, it usually will make some of those who pirate the app not bother with 'illegal' versions if they can obtain the official one.
