Help Email, getting twice

Hi folks, bit of a newby at this Android stuff (and smart phones in general!). I have set up a google mail account and now I receive the emails twice, once through the standard mail setup and once through the Gmail set up. I then have to go into both to read them to get rid of the notification.

How can I set it up so only one works?

I had the same problem until I realised that Gmail accounts should be used with the Gmail application, the Mail application should be used for other types of email account.

As an option, you can completely disable Sync on the Gmail application so you have just one client for managing your emails. That's what I did on my phone.
