Root Do I HAVE to root my phone to remove bloatware?

Seriously. Is this absolutely imperative?
Do I have to pay for a root app?

Also, I was looking into upgrading to Fro-Yo. How do I do this on Vibrant firmware v.2.1? What are the benefits to Fro-Yo anyways?

Sorry, I've been living under a rock with all this stuff.

If you want to run Froyo, you will have to root. Check out the rooting guide sticky. That should get you started. You may also want to cruise over to XDA and have a look through some of the threads there.

As the above poster said read the root guide but also you might want to check out this youtube channel should you get stuck at any point. Theres a good number of videos there that are very informative and will help you if you need it. I watched the nobrick one when I fixed an issue on mine that was caused by rom manager.

This will root your phone and it is easy. Complete instructions. They dont have easy root apps in the market anymore like z4Root but you can still do it this way. And yes, you need to do it to get rid of bloatware using Titanium backup.
