Flashing Roms and phone line?

Hi, I just got a Hero a couple days ago. I would like to run a 2.2 Rom on it. My question is, after rooting, when I have to wipe all data, does that erase the info that ties my phone with my line? After flashing a Rom, will I have to activate my Hero with Sprint like when I first got it?

Thanks for your help. (I searched and did not find answer)

Ok so there is no type of activation process done after flashing a rom. For example, i can flash a rom and make a call right away without any other steps?

Yea, you can make a call right away. If you flash a new rom, you will need to log into your google account again though. I think you can bypass it, but I'm not sure. If you have a data plan, it should all be good. Good luck. If you need any help, the people on this forum are really helpful

I just flashed ASOP 9.2.2 a few days ago. I could immediately make calls and receive texts, BUT i could not receive calls (they went straight to voicemail) until I installed the gapps package and signed into my google account. Not sure if that's the norm or an anomaly.

every time I've installed aosp I've done gapps at the same time...it works if you do it like that.

Thanks guys! That answers that, I guess it does not do a complete factory reset, only partial.
Although I thought you would have to because it was like doing a factory reset. I did a factory reset yesterday on a Droid2(unrooted) and once rebooted, I had to call Verizon to reconnect the line.

The reason I was asking was because I am not the owner of my Sprint line, so if I needed any account info, or to speak to Sprint, I would not have the info.

Nope had nothing to do with Gapps was simply a coincidence
