With everyone using so many different variations of ROM/Kernal/Clock/etc around here, I thought it would be nice for the curious bystanders if we all weighed in.

You can find out your mflops by downloading linpack. It is free in Market.

ROM: Alldroid Community 0.2b
Kernal: TazKern1300m
Clock: 1.3ghz
JIT Y/N: No
CPU Temp: 38c under load, 34c idle.
Mflops: 11.003
 
ROM: Bugless Beast 7.5
Kernel: Default (Believe it's the 1000mHz Kaz)
Clock: 950mHz
JIT: No
Mflops: 8.320
 
ROM: Bugless Beast 7.5
Kernel: Taz 1000Mhz
Clock: 950mHz
JIT: No
Mflops: 8.056
 
ROM: Bugless Beast 7.5
Kernel: 2.6.29

So my questions about this are,
1) Is the JIT available for droid? Is it effective/recommended? What I read was that it was available for the Cyanogen Nexus rom.

2) i can understand how Fadelight is getting to 11 with a clock of 1.3, but taking a look at the Greene Computing website, how are guys getting their phones up to 50 mflops? Are those numbers legit? Are they stripping the phone down to nothing but a processor designed to go fast?

3) What is the purpose of changing the kernel?

JIT = Just In Time in programming, so I am supposing that here it means the same thing - thus, I surmise that it is some sort of Just In Time Java debugger?

As for MFLOPS, yes, b/c that value (as I noted) is a value per second - so, obviously the more you can achieve per second the faster it is.

Haven't tried linpack, but I have an app called 'Benchmark', and it gives me this:

Edit: nvm. ADC 2.1 doesn't agree with JIT.

And daily stable running like this - also averaging 150-160ms

Where do we go to put JIT on our droid? I can't find a link? On all droid it's just like 14 pages of people discussing it.. no steps.. any ideas? Thanks! :)

which is better? higher or lower mflops? i ran the test like 10 times, ranged from 6 to like 9 mflops. i also ran benchmark pi and it came to like ~2600 ms

Mflops: 2.689 (mine), 2.976 (wife's -- same phone, stock kernel but not rooted)

Damn, how'd hers get higher? LOL. I guess it varies from time to time, and depends on what you got running. (That said, she still has all the stock bloatware like CityID and Twidroyd...)

Just ran linpack at 1.25ghz clock to see the difference and got 16.624 Mflops & 25 degrees C

load up any rom. they have most of the stuff taken care for you already so you dont have to do everything by hand.
