[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

Answered my own question... Thursday from 1:00 - 2:00pm Las Vegas Time Verizon Presser (Mountain Time?)

the specs arent possible because the MSM8960 chip referred to in the article isnt even available to the market yet

how do you know that for fact, because a blog told you? i have no idea if it is or not. but unless it was a press release from qualcom i have doubt, even then i would hesitate. HTC just recently had a presser saying lte phones second half of 2011, but look at us now. i can tell you one thing, qualcom has some serious incentive to get this processor in whatever they can as quick as they can otherwise i dont know if they will sell one. the tegra two has been announced in almost every mobile device talked about in months. i obviously doubt a dual core processor, im just saying i dont think anyone can say with 100% certainty it does not.

It was posted on a blog as an edit when they ran a story about the new specs supposed specs. Anyone who posts and edit or redaction of sorts probably has good reason to. You are correct it might not be true, but considering how long this phone has been seen in pretty much its current form for 6+ months i would just guess it didnt have a dual core that soon in the game.

And i think HTC CEO/President or something mentioned dualcore devices would be around 2nd half of 2011, not LTE devices.

qualcomm announced the chip on february 16 2009. how long would it really have taken them to get it out. again, i have no idea what i am talking about. im just bored and hoping for the best.

yeah, i think you are right about the dual core, not lte devices availability.

Yeah, I read the article, and it didn't say "only a requirement for tablets". The article itself just happened to be just talking about tablets. However, one could think that since its still the Android OS, that it would apply to the android smartphones. And even if it doesn't, if the HTC Thunderbolt is released with a 1Ghz processor, that was released in the U.S in January of LAST year, that's just not cool. When I buy my next "Dream phone", it should be advanced in technology, not just stay the same, especially when competitors like Moto and LG are using advanced technology in their hardware.

Here ya go...

Honeycomb to require dual-core processor, initially tablet-only? -- Engadget

Lol, thats a different article, and that's a question in the title. That means nothing.

you are still overlooking the fact that honeycomb is a tablet os. that is how it was announced and i dont believe anything different has ever been stated. why in the hell would they develop a version of the os specifically for tablets then put it on small 4" devices, they wouldnt.

Oh you read somewhere that HoneyComb was only going to be for Tablets? I've never seen or heard that before.

Regardless. We can sit here and try to interpret, however your original comment was that your not buying a HTC because of it not having a dual processor.

Actually there are a butt load of phones that technically should get Honeycomb, yet are not cable due to the processor noted in both of these articles.

We are about to enter murky water here in debating this, let's just move on and wait to something official in said.

Yes, I said that I would not buy the HTC device if it didn't have a dual core processor, and I mentioned that that was older technology. Thats not a debate. Thats a fact.

Did you mean Honeycomb? Gingerbread has no hardware requirements.

Battery technology will not change for a while. They are still figuring out small quirks with Li-ion. Dual cores are here NOW. So, asking for a dramatic battery technology discovery is pointless. Asking for this phone to have dual core is reasonable and expected. I really don't know why you would skip on such a boost.

It's pointless to ask? I disagree completely. AND I never said I would skip on anything, just would rather have better battery stock then dual core. It's just my PREFERENCE. If after release they determine that dual is better for battery life then I'm down with that.
Either way yay for technical progress

Pretty much any story written about Android tablets mentions this. They talk about how Froyo is not optimized for tablets, whereas Honeycomb is. Nobody involved in Honeycomb has ever said anything about it going on a phone. The only ones who are are the people reporting on it. They're looking at these OSs like they will available for any Android device when the people involved in it (Google, manufacturers) have not commented either way. Until Google comes out and says that Honeycomb will be available for all devices, no one can say for sure.

As far as calling someone out reporting what they read, I'm assuming that's how you've gotten your info. The internet is pretty big, is it possible someone else may have read something you have not? I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just saying there's no reason to get confrontational with people when both sides are getting their info from tech blogs who it seems like 50% of the time are reporting on rumor or speculation. Let's give the Mods & Guides a break, they've got a long few days ahead for them with CES on the horizon.

First, that reply of mine that you quoted wasn't to a mod. Secondly, he made a statement and I asked where he read that, because that wasn't a rumor that I've read. Some mods chose to direct certain things to me, when I never initiated any of my comments to a mod....and that's fine if they choose to.

Infact, it was a mod who initiated a comment to me and said, "Read the article. It will only be a requirement for TABLETS." Even though that is just as much speculation as what I had already said.
