[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

Then it should be dthun or something but since when is it droid branded?

My opinion, but Dolt sounds much smoother than Dthun. Maybe you aren't thinking of it like that. I think of it as one word. Dolt. Dinc. Not D olt. Doesn't matter, call it whatever you want :). I don't think there is confirmation of Droid branding. However, Besides the Fascinate, all of Verizon's high end smartphones will have a Droid branding. I don't think they would let their first 4G phone slip through without their well know branding.

HTC and battery life dont go together never have and im sure this will be no different

I get 2 days out of my Eris, and my wife almost does out of her Dinc. But you're right, previous versions of Sense have been battery hogs.

Something maybe to consider here. When these other manufacturers released phones last year, they had quite a few problems. Lagging UIs due to their skin, GPS issues, etc. And other than the Star, how much experience does LG have with high end smartphones?

One rule I have always gone with is don't buy the first revamped model. The Incredible took the Eris and built upon it. Same type of processor but tweaked. Look at the first iphone. It had quite a few issues when released, even some on the 3G. But by the 3GS they started to get them worked out. Then the i4 came out and we had antennagate & flaky prox sensors.

With how HTC handles supporting their equipment vs. Moto & Samsung, I'd stick with HTC. Everyone here is acting like when these dual cores are released they will be problem free. Dual cores could open up a whole new world of issues. Look at the issues going from single to dual core in the PC industry. Some of the first ones were god awful.

Now am I saying that's absolutely going to happen? No. But believing there won't be some major hurdles isn't being realistic either. That's just my opinion.

The inc was alot different than the eris and had a lot of issues although this could be true we have no idea how well or bad these will perform this good be a homerun or could have a ton of issues we will just have to wait and see

As much as i'm wanting to jump on this and get rid of my Eris, i'm going to wait about a month to see what everyone else is going through.

HTC phones, including the incredible, had just as many issues. In fact, HTC was the only one to have bricked customers phones with an update (congratulations EVO owners). All of these phones had issues, and all of them received updates, eventually, to fix them. Anyone who expects ANY device to be problem free is naive and blind. Yay, even the mighty HTC has problems after release. Lab testing vs. real-world application is always different, especially when mass-production comes in to play. The only difference is Samsung and LG produce their own high-end displays, and Samsung is developing it's own processors. HTC outsources EVERYTHING. I would trust something built mostly in-house more than outsourcing.

I want to punch Motorola in the face right now! Awesome specs, but they completely ruined it with their skin, and made the device as ugly as possible. Gah, why can't we get the specs of the Droid Bionic, and the form factor and software of the HTC ThunderBolt?

If Samsung is so great then why on Phonedogs poll when asked if they were frustrated with their Galaxy S phone and would they consider a Samsung for their next phone, 57% said they would not. When the Galaxy S series came out they said to wait and see how long it would take for Froyo to be available. They're still waiting on that.

Now yes, LG and Samsung make their own displays, but that only means they'll have great displays. As far as phone phones go, Samsung hasn't been the greatest. They re-released that flip phone (the one that flipped two ways), slapped a 2 behind the name and called it a day.

And as far as bricking phones with updates, Apple did that with iOS4, and they handle everything.

Now I'm not saying that wanting a dual core is wrong or stupid. Wanting it futureproof is one thing, but I'd bet most people will get tired of their 1st gen dual core when the 2nd gen comes out, as it will have features the 1st gen didn't. Hell, after the Incredible was released a lot of people on here said it would hold them over untill their 2 year contract was up and now here they are looking to switch.

I just read the other day that some company is working on quad core processors for phones. For all we know, by the time LG, Moto, & Samsung release their phones something 10 times greater will be just around the corner (real world speak: 6 months). If you don't pull the trigger at some point you'll end up buying a phone 2 years after the one you currently own.

welp....tomorrow should be interesting. Especially seeing all the insane stuff today. Even black man x said VZW is going to let everyone down tomorrow sooooo i'm not even getting my hopes up

leave my post, for all of the poor souls that had their hopes up for their true love HTC to come out with the shiz. I told my buddy with an X that i would never rock that sh!tty Blur UI, but folks, thats what i might be doing

THis phone just murderlized the THunderbolt! Flawless Victory!!!!

I will give HTC the benefit of the doubt until they officially spill the beans tomorrow. However, if all hold true, it doesn't look good for HTC.

The only thing that is still up in the air with the Moto Bionic, LG 2x / Revolution or the Sammy is release date. They could have just announced these phones with a "Late 2011" or Q3 2011 release date as is the case with a lot of CES stuff.

I hear ya. I keep thinking MOTO BLUR? WTF. However those specs may just change my mind....actually they did.

I am going to give the benefit of doubt to HTC tomorrow, but what we know, it does not look good.

Am I missing something... can't or wont somebody just port an HTC ROM over to the Moto once it is rooted? If this is true, I don't really care about Blurr. If they can't port an HTC ROM over then I will just put Vanilla Android on it.

He followed up that message by saying, "just kidding" or something like that.

Everyone's been trying since even the original Droid was released. Just won't happen with the bootloader locked down. I don't mind Moto Blur so bad but it isn't as polished as HTC Sense for sure.

The Thunderbolt specs have already leaked...so they've already lost on that front. Maybe tomorrow they will announce something spectacular...
