Help Problem Updating Droid to 2.2 software

Desert Fox

Newbie
I've been having problems updating my Motorola Droid phone to Android's version 2.3 software. Each time I select the option to update, the phone restarts and begins the update, but a quarter of the way through the update, the phone stops the update and displays an image that looks like the image on this page. My phone's build number is FRG22D. I am rooted with the Superuser program. I suspect this may have something to do with the error even though my phone was rooted when I did the 2.2 update. Any help in resolving this error is appreciated.

Ummm, 2.3 is not out yet. The OTA update is currently 2.2.1.

That being said, being rooted is not supposed to cause you to not get updated to 2.2.1 (FRG83D), but there may be something else wrong that is causing the issue here.

Are you running an alternate recovery?

No

Hmm, OK, then, you may need to manually delete the file from your phone so that it can download again.

I'm already on FRG83D so I cannot tell you exactly where to look, but I know when FroYo was first making the rounds as an OTA update the location was not /SDCard/update.zip like previous OTA updates - it was being stored somewhere in /System, IIRC....

Or was it the SDCard?

Another alternative would be to Flash it yourself from Peter Alfonso and then follow the info in this thread http://androidforums.com/droid-all-...oid-without-rsd-lite-up-including-frg83d.html

It more than likely will not be named that - for example, when the FroYo was pushed OTA, the name was 9046f5a3ec09.signed-voles-ota-45394.zip

That's why in his downloads he is still asking for someone to notify him if they have the official OTA update file....
