Help Auto Forward Copy of Voicemails to Email or GV Number?

is there a way to Auto Forward Copy of Voicemails to Email or a Google Voice Number? i see on our EVO the Sprint Visual Voicemail App has a grayed out option within settings "Auto Foward to Email". but it's grayed out. i want to auto send a copy of every VM to an email address OR BETTER YET my Google Voice account so i can get free transcription and access from my PC.

the big draw is the free VM transcription.

any way to do this???

If you want free transcription, why not just use Google Voice as a voicemail replacement?

that's exactly what i'm trying to set up and hence my question. but i don't want to change my phone number from Sprint to my GV number.

so is it possible and how do i do this???

Sure, you can use Google Voice as a voicemail replacement without switching your phone number. Basically, unanswered and ignored calls will be forwarded to Google instead of Sprint. You can completely forget you have a different number with google voice, if you want.

1) Make sure you have google voice installed on your phone, then go to www.google.com/voice and login with your account (or set one up if you don't have one).

2) Go to your google voice settings page where you will see your forwarding phones. Add your cell phone if you haven't already.

3) You'll see an option to activate google voicemail on your phone. Select that option, and it will prompt you to set up a conditional call forward on your phone. It will tell you what to do.

Once you've done that, any calls you get to your cell phone (not google voice, but your actual cell phone) that you ignore or miss will go to google instead. You can view those voicemails in the google voice app just like you can with the sprint visual voicemail apps.

EDIT: I forgot one small thing. On the phone to go menu->settings->call and change the Voicemail service to google voice.

thanks for the info! questions -

1. does this cost anything (forwarding charges from Sprint, etc.)?
2. how reliable is GV?

1) It used to, but enough people complained at the absolutely useless charges. It's now free as long as you're just using conditional call forwarding, which is all gv uses.

2) It's fine, but under menu->settings->Accounts & Sync, you should make sure you have background data enabled, or you won't get immediate notifications of voicemail. Also, make sure you have autosync for your google account enabled. It's never let me down. Keep in mind if you ever lose your internet connection, you won't receive voicemail notifications. The same goes for vvm, though, so...

thanks for the info. i played around with it but i think i will stick with Sprint voicemail for now.

The "Auto forward to email" feature is only active if you are enrolled to Free Trial or their monthly subscription. Otherwise, it will gray out.

makes sense.

i did the Sprint voicemail transcription free trial for 30 days and thought it was a good feature. i just don't want to pay $2/month for it. i hate "leaking" money and would rather send it to my mutual fund every month.
