Root unrevoked for the epic

Im looking on how to root an epic for a friend. Im..pretty well versed in the Evo rooting, but i came over here to learn how, and im a little confused.

We just want root for the wireless tethering. Will unrevoked accomplish that for the phone?

If not, we may not do it. Im not familiar with it so i will hold off.

edit: let me say im on a mac, so the windows versions i saw wont happen here. lol

i used a PC to root my Epic, but it looks like there are some instructions for Mac here:
