they had to go back and do another look because the phone impressed them so much

24 months to quadcore phones hmmm the technology is out there![]()
if thats a reference to crysis..
you have no idea how wrong you are :/

I never assume these days.
If I remember correctly you worked at best buy.
After working at radioshack.. I've dealt with some "customers"... and I would assume you know the kind I am talking about if you worked at bestbuy X.X

No I didn't work at best buy I have a good friend who works there but I deal with those people in my bussiness too![]()
Fair enough.
There is a difference between people thinking out the box.
And with their brain outside there head.
Anyway, I am surprised at how critical anand was of the dock.
I wasn't looking to get it in the first place and he said its still not bad despite his complaints.
But, I guess he does have to give a fair reminder it is only arm architecture and not full on x86 and x64 (for those of you not in the know x86 and x64 are the kind found in bigger computers such as desktop and usually far more powerful)
Yes well if anyone is looking to actually replace any kind if computer laptop or desktop with that dock are deluding themsleves. I think it will work as a net browser and lite work/ computing like doc editing, photo i etc etc social needs etc but any more than that it will dissapoint.
While thats true.
I think that for your average person.. if it wasn't "sluggish" they would be content with it as an all in one device.
I mean.. in all fairness.. most people don't need much besides a browser/light doc editing.

Well, this reminds me of the Engadget article I found when looking Tegra 2 on Wikipedia and then the i.MX chips from Freescale. Quad-core phones may be coming sooner than we expect.
I understand the logic of more powerful processors on computers.
But, I'm really beginning to wonder what is going to take up all this power on cell phones.
I can understand plenty 0 ram and a decent processor to make things snappy and ensure a huge amount of app flexibility.
But, I don't think anyone is gunna be doing Autocad on a phone anytime soon.
Then again.. what do I know.

Yeah man, never say never. You mentioned above crysis never happening on a cellphone - Never? No way, I mea 24 months might be too little time, but did you see the engadget video where they previewed the blackberry playbook? It ran quake 3 (or maybe unreal tournament, I dunno, some FPS), a 1080p video, a music player, and a photo slideshow... simultaneously. So the first person shooter could have been even more demanding - not crysis level, but still, give it a couple years and who knows. After all, it was only 1 year ago that I was drooling over the HTC HD2 for it's unbelievable 1ghz processor. Now that same processor is old tech, and a more modern 1 ghz processor is the *mimimum* for today's high-end smartphones.
And the pace of technological growth is only getting faster!

Its not getting faster believe it or not.. its more the same pace it has been.
If you keep doubling... your still only doubling.
And to be fair, there is a lot more that goes into that game running on that platform than just cores and raw power.
Odds are its a stripped down rewritten version..
thanks. I tryhave to agree well stated

Well yeah unless the phone runs windows and has an x86 chip it will have to be entirely rewritten. But you're missing the point. I don't even know if they would remake crysis in particular. All I mean to say is that you're scoffing at the idea of tech reaching the point where a cell phone could play a game made, what, like four years ago? Bad assumption - you should know better as a comp. science major! And tech doubling every two years (I assume you're talking about moore's law) - dude that is like the definition of the speed exponentially increasing.
Not trying to give you a hard time, but you gotta open up your mind a little man, anything is possible with time.
