Rooting Motorola Phones

Ok so I remember when the DX came out people were talking about the locked bootloader and not being able to root or use roms. Now you can use roms, root the phone, overclock the processor, etc. Is there anything you can't do with the DX that you can do with another Android phone where the bootloader isn't locked or not locked down as much? Am I wrong in thinking that eventually the Atrix will be rooted and you'll be able to use custom roms?

I'm sure it will get rooted. Might take a little longer, but this phone should get a lot of attention from the hackers.

It's really only a matter of time. It may be a much longer matter of time than, say, the Samsung Infuse (which will probably be rooted even before the official release day, because someone will inevitably get a leaked device a few days early, AND because of the proliferation of Galaxy S devices and how similar their hardware is from device to device, which means that practices that have worked with other Samsung devices will likely work with the Infuse).

Honestly, I'm still kinda tempted to get the Infuse, just because it will be ridiculously easy to mod the hell out of that one. Frankly, the only two deal-breakers for me on the Infuse are lack of HDMI output, and SAMOLED Puls display.

Now I know you may think I'm bonkers to say that the SAMOLED Plus display is a bit of a deal-breaker, but let me explain why:

I currently have the Captivate. I've had it since release, and although the display is generally really good, I do have to say, I have noticed the "burn-in" effect, especially when turning the device in landscape and viewing web pages, or during boot up. The "ghost" of the status bar is getting even more and more noticeable each day. Not good...

Yea this is why I don't understand why everyone is stating this is a deal breaker. Eventually it will get rooted. I can deal with it not rooted for a while.
