Root [ROM] Project Elite v4 Built from source frg83D w/ Gingerbread Parts

Finally got it to install with no bugs after three tries (I think TiBu was causing a few glitches) and I love it! It's very fast, coming from CM6.

I'm having a problem with Gmail syncing though. New mail isn't being "pushed" through and deletes aren't reflected in desktop version, even after a manual sync. Auto sync and background data are selected in settings. Any idea how I can fix this?

Also, the Facebook fix linked above isn't working for me...the text doesn't turn white. Is there a secret to installing it other than installing the zip from recovery?

Make sure gmail is set to sync
settings-accounts-click on gmail account-make sure checkbox is checked for sync gmail.

When I installed the MIUI browser, it seems like the stock browser was deleted. I don't mind deleting the stock browser much but I had a lot of my bookmarks on the stock browser. When I try to use the LauncherPro plus pop-up for bookmarks, it's unable to retrieve them. Is there any way I can make new bookmarks so they can be listed in the LP Pro pop-up?

nice rom. The only problem I have is one that I am having with all my custom roms. When I go to dial an extension using the speaker I get an echo and rarely get the right extension. Funny thing is, it works fine with vanilla roms. Again, not specific to this rom but I was hoping it would cure the problem.

I'm not sure the developer is even aware of this problem. I haven't experienced it myself, probably because I use bluetooth rather than the speaker. I will say this: If the extensions you're dialing are for numbers you dial often, then the easiest way to deal with it is to set up the contact to dial the extension for you. Do this by adding several commas after the telephone number, followed by the extension (XXX-XXX-XXXX,,,XXXX). I have a number of my contacts set up this way and it works every time.

I don't think it is the rom, I think it is my phone or something I have done to it somewhere along the line as I have the problem with all custom roms. I just can't figure out why vanilla frg83 or frg22 seem to give me no problem at all and every custom rom gives me this problem. Something must be carrying over from one rom to the next that I am not aware of. Thanks for the help though, I posted that sort of hoping that you would pipe in with a brilliant answer :).

I am having some serious problems with this ROM. There is a tremendous lag in many of the basic operations. Not talking about homescreen lag, but in opening a program, making a phone call, etc. Sometimes when I hit a call button it is taking more than 10 seconds to go to the call screen and dial. One call took nearly 30 seconds to initiate. Even typing seems to lag, as does opening the messaging app. Its really a big problem and I am not sure what the cause is.

Could it be an issue with the kernel I am running? I'm OC'd at 900 most times except for on low battery or high temps. Not sure which kernel it is though.

most likely previously answered question time: how can I make the soft key home button actually go to the home screen?

[forgot to quote, see below] Are you still running LP? I switched to Launcher and no longer have the lag, even w/live wallpaper running. For some reason, LP didn't like my widgets or apps I restored...also fc'd gallery each time I tried to open a file.

Are you still running LP or did you switch to stock Launcher? I had the same problem and was OC'd to 1100. Once I switched to Launcher, lag is GONE (even w/live wallpaper) and Gallery is no longer force closing. Hope that helps.

I am running launcher pro. Is that the issue you think? I guess I can switch back and see if that solves the issue....but I really like LP.

Strange, but I don't even appear to have stock Launcher, only Launcher pro. I don't have a default launcher but it seems to run LP and offer no other option.....odd.

Also, I am running 2.6.32.9_ slayher kernel

Try to clear defaults on LP in App Mgt, then try to hit the home key (which is now working after a reboot!)

That's just it, there are no defaults set....nothing in Home Switcher and nothing in application manager - under Launcher Pro it says "no defaults set". Its bizarre. Home switcher doesn't even display the stock launcher as a choice, almost as if its not installed somehow.

You know what? I think stock launcher came from my Titanium Backup from BB. Not sure if/where you can find it to download and then swap them out. You may just want to try to d/l another launcher from market and then try to apply it and see if stock comes up as an option.

just downloaded v4.1 and galaxy s theme 4.1 after wiping data and cache.....running rom with launcherpro...but noticed no miui music player....what happened to the miui player? Loved it cause it had equalizer with lyrics while playing song. can't find it on the market anywhere...any idea why it was removed and can it be installed in the future?

Just got PE4 up and running and saw there's a 4.1. Can I just flash this one over v4 without wipe (I know wipe is ALWAYS preferred, but just wanted to know if you tried that first or just went straight to 4.1)?

Wiped and updated anyway...no worries.

Just flashed 4.1 after wipe and ran TiBu, and YUP, there it was - Launcher 2.3.2. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm running an incredibly heavy Sweeter Home 2 theme and I always judge a ROM by how the ROM handles my SH2 setup. I'm not having any lag problems whatsoever, not on the homescreen, opening apps, making phone calls or scrolling. I don't think it's Launcher Pro. I think you may have been right in your first guess -- the kernel. It sounds like you might need a higher voltage kernel. If you're running an ultra low voltage kernel, try low voltage and if you're running low voltage, try standard voltage.

I guess I'll give that a shot. I've been running this kernel since the day I rooted....
Any suggestions on a kernel? I think this one may be a low or ultra low voltage but I can't even remember!

I'm going to try slayher's 1.2 LV kernel

Well, something's very odd. It sounds like you didn't get the most up-to-date Settings/Elite Options and Phone apks. If I were you, I'd try flashing the ROM again without wiping, but download the ROM file fresh.

Just got this ROM, switched from Charity to test it out. So far everything is great, checking battery life now :) I tried to install without wipe, but the elite settings kept force closing on me, so I wiped and re-installed. In any event, I have the same issue as the person who couldnt set up the LED for missed calls... there are only 3 option in the extended phone settings, nothing about missed calls.
The 3 options are as already noted by riffdex:
Voicemail Service -> Google Voice
Voicemail Settings -> Settings for Google Voice
Voice Privacy -> Enable enhanced privacy mode

Anyway, not a big issue, just thought I let you know...

Great ROM so far!

Does anyone know how I can make it so my home screen ALWAYS stays in portrait view? I have my Settings set so that "Auto-rotate display" is turned off (which works to make sure my screen does not rotate based on the accelerometer), however it still goes to landscape mode when I open the keyboard. I want my home screen to stay portrait mode 24/7...

Take a look at Missed Call and Blink.

I'm not sure about Launcher Pro, but in Sweeter Home 2, I can set my Preferences to Disable orientation change. When I open my keyboard, my screen stays in portrait mode. Have you checked the LP preferences to see if there's a similar option?
