Help Text messages deleted!!

Help! My max settings are set at 1.2M max msg size. 200 msg per conversation. 20 msg per conversation for multimedia. Delete old messages is unchecked. Auto retrieve is checked. How did I lose all my text messages? I always get prompted before any messages are deleted. How can I get these back??
 
Its a common problem with android, doesnt seem to be phone/device specific. Theres nothing that can be done to get them back. I would recommend SMS Backup & Restore or something similar to backup your texts to help when this happens again.

What carrier/device do you have?

Try again 5000 max on my phone
 
I just downloaded that but of course, too late. Wish someone had advised me to do that before. i am crushed at losing those messages. Thank you for your reply.

Try again what? I had around 4500 messages when this first happened to me, its since happened with a couple thousand, a few hundred, or just a few. Perhaps certain phones/carriers aren't affected, but I know for sure the HTC Incredible and Motorola Droid 1 and Droid X experience this issue.

How long has it been? You could try to get in touch with verizon and explain see if they have any way. They do have it but getting it will be the problem.
