ROM flash is frozen

Newbie
Just rooted my phone today. Had it forever but have finally decided to root it. Did the root manually and everything went smoothly. Did my nandroid backup, flashed teh recovery. Heres where things went wrong. I went to flash my first ROM i got fresh 2.1.2 put it on the root, rebooted, flashed teh new rom and rebooted, so screen goes black and im like oh nooo, but then the android guy comes on there and says "fresh" then starts dancing. Well hes been dancing for like 10 minutes now and every now and then he will freeze the screen goes black then it stsrats over a gain with him dancing and saying FRESH. Any help as to what i did wrong and how to fix this?

Probably will have to pull the battery, then reboot into recovery, and wipe data, dalvik cache, then re-flash the rom.

yes, it should say something like "wipe" If i rember correctly, then it gives you choices to wipe, select data..wipe, then dalvik. You may get a error message while wiping dalvik, dependding what version of the recovery you are using, but this is usually just a bogus error.
 
ok done, reflashing now. keeping fingers crossed. Also wanted to ask if you knew where i can download ROM manager at? I download the one you pay 4.99 for because i thought that was the only one but after i installed it it says i need teh free version for it to work, but the free version isnt on market anymore. Also found it on a site and downloaded it to teh phone but when it goes to install it it wont install.
 
Hmmm...You should be abe to get the free version of Rom manager in the market. It shows on my wife's Hero...

EDIT: Maybe you need to uninstall the paid version first???
 
ok, the little man stopped dancing this time and it went to teh lock screen showing no service, so i flip down the lock screen and its giving me a tutorial like the first time i used my phone and im having to set up google and mail accounts, is this normal after flashing a new rom?

thanks man i really appreciate the fast responses. Now that i got this, tomorrow i will try to do the wireless tethering woohooo. Oh and the rom manager free version never showed up even befor i download teh paid version, maybe ill look again after my service comes back up now that im rooted.

ok went home last night got the new rom all set up. went to the market and searched for rom manager and bammm there was the free version now, weird. so i downloaded it. Then i decided to go ahead and try to get the wifi tethering working, all i could ever get from it was it saying not connecting and asking if i was rooted. Fooled with it all night and this morning and still nothing. So idecided to go back to stock rom and see if it would work on that. Went back to stock rom downloaded wifi tether opened it up and hit connect, it starts to connect then stops and says error and check log, everything under the show log says failed except the last one that says tether now running, it says done. Also since i went back to stock rom i didnt have the rom manager anymore so i went to market to download it to stock rom and what do ya know, its not showing up again on teh market for me. Can anyone give me alittle help with the wifi. Maybe i need a better rom or something im not sure what to do now.
 
just a little update, i downloaded a different wifi tether app (barnacle) and tried to use it, it wont connect and says it needs su make sure you r rooted. I know im rooted because ive flashed a custom rom. so whats the deal? anybody know?
 
ok new update, got rid of the fresh rom and decided to try out aosp, flashed it got my contacts gmail and all that flashed the gaps, then downloaded wifi tether for rooted users, anddddd app is working great now, connected first try with my laptop, now i just gotta find that write up i saw that showed how to keep screen always on because when my screen goes off i lose connection with my laptop. Wanted to do this for my wife on her phone but i dont think she will like the aosp rom but so far thats the only way ive been able to get the wifi to work.
