Help Need help with iTunes music syncing, please!!!

okay, I downloaded iSyncr for Mac by JRTStudio several hours ago and have been trying to sync with my mac to download/copy my music from iTunes to my phone but it keeps telling me that SD card isn't recognized or supported! I have followed the tutorial to the "T" several times and I'm not having ANY luck! Any tips? I am running Mac OS X (10.5.8) Leopard and trying to sync to my Samsung Fascinate that I just got yesterday.

On a PC - to have the computer see the SD Card you must use the notification bar to "mount" the usb.

Not sure if it is same on the mac... maybe this helps
 
supposedly it is the same for the Mac, I did "mount" it from the notification bar and that is when I get the "unreadable" notification.
 
actually what I am getting is the RED STOP SIGN that says "Disk Insertion - the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" Then it gives me the choice to "Initialize", "Ignore" or "Eject"
 
When I click the "Initialize" button I see where the phone / SD card is located (but not the iSyncr icon like I should see - when I click on the phone / card this is what I am shown:

anyone have any ideas how to make it work?
 
Until Verizon fixes the USB to Mac connection you are going to have problems syncing. This has just developed in the latest update which you likely have on your new Fascinate. There is a possible way another forum member found to enable the card to be recognized by the Mac.
First open Terminal, then type in "gpt show /dev/disk5" without the quotes. Plug in your phone, go through the steps to get to the point that you get Disk insertion error. Select "Ignore" then unmount the card then remount it. Then in the Terminal hit Enter to run the "gpt show /dev/disk5 command". You may have to run the command more than once. It should recognize your card at that point.
 
about mass storage mode after the recent OTA, gives some work around on getting the PC to recognize your phone's SD card. HAve to get that to work first, then boot up your syncing software.
I use DoubleTwist on my PC by the way, syncs my songs via my itunes playlists to my phone.

okay, so I have not had ANY success with this way either :(

I just want to put my music on my dang phone - it shouldn't be this dang hard!
 
Time to eat my words! Just after posting this I decided to email JRT Studio to ask them if there was any other idea that they had to make this work for me. While waiting for their reply I thought I would try what Gnomad suggested again just to kill some time. And this time it ACTUALLY worked!!!! So yes, it does take several attempts to get a Mac to recognize it but it DOES eventually do that.

I also want to add to this that Justin from JRT Studio sent me a very quick reply to say he was following this thread as well and offer what he could. I am very impressed that he responded so quickly to my email!

Now if I can just figure out how to get the "DRM" files to transfer from iTunes to the phone I will be all set! Anyone have any ideas how to authorize a phone to be one of the 5 "machines" that can play the purchased songs??
 
If you just want music, you can download the doubletwist airsync app. It might take a while to actually transfer the files, but it will definitely save a headache for people who just want music.

Glad you got it working, just takes running the terminal command at the right time.
I am pretty sure that you cannot play DRM protected files from iTunes on your Android. The only songs that can be transferred and played on the Android are ones purchased after April 2009, they should not have DRM restrictions. Supposedly for .30 per song Apple will remove the DRM protection from your pre 2009 purchased songs.

I have a MAC, I have a Fascinate. My solution around the DL09 update ended up being a $7.99 external card reader..not perfect, not as convenient as just pluggin' 'er in, but it works fine. I simply drag and drop all files that I want onto my phone. I created separate folders for music, movies, tv shows, walpapers, photos, etc. and drop those files accordingly. It works like a charm. Any file that I want from my phone to my MAC I just send it to my Dropbox and download it from there. No second party apps or special permission needed. :)
 
Syncing is fine if you have small amount of music and good size SD card. For most people their music doesn't fit on their SD card. So we use Jam11 which enables users to stream their iTunes music from their computer. No need to occupy any space on the SD card. Give it a try from Android Market.

so with this streaming do you have to be within a certain distance from where your computer is with your iTunes music, or can you do this anywhere? sounds great if you can do this without having to be right there near the computer :)

Busted! Shameless self promotion Jam11! Why does one have an SD card if not to store stuff? You can store approx. 3500+ songs on a 16gb sd card which comes standard on the SF. Do you really need more than 3500 songs at any given time on your phone? Anyway....just sayin'. :rolleyes:
