Root Need help updating to 2.2 (2.2.1) on Ally

So, I haven't gotten an OTA update for 2.2 on my Ally and I rooted it earlier in 2010 but the root doesn't work anymore. As in, rooted apps won't work anymore. So I was wondering whether I am supposed to receive the update today or what. I really need the 2.2 update. My battery lasts for about 6 hours in my pocket at school and I don't use it. I don't use a task killer. Also, it's really slow. So is there ANY way to get 2.2? One more thing, I got the 2.1-update 1 with root WORKING cause I read that when you're rooted, you're not supposed to get any kind of OTA update.

so I got the alert, 2.2 Froyo update....53MB or so. I clicked install now, my phone rebooted. The little android dude hopping out of the box pops up. like 10 seconds later my phone boots up. I look in the about phone section and it says, v2.1-update 1. I go to System Updates and it says my phone is currently up to date... What's going on?!

SnaveZ :\

UPDATE: So I watched my phone after I hit Restart and Install. It's the little android dude with the box open and the arrow pointing to him. The Bar on the bottom starts to scroll then about 25% of the way the arrow turns into a triangle with a ! in the middle of it. The phone reboots and goes back to 2.1-update1. Under System Updates it says my phone is currently up to date. The only way I'm able to get my phone to say 2.2 Update available is if I do a factory reset.

What's wrong with my phone?

SnaveZ :(

Are you rooted? Have you deleted any of the bloatware? Custom ROM?

Try the update from LG? I don't know if it's still available, but I'd at least check and try that.

I have no idea if it would make a difference but it's definitely worth a try.

I was rooted but I unrooted the phone.

If you can still get into custom recovery, I would suggest copying whatever you need to keep off your sdcard. Do a factory reset. Then reformat the card via Windows or by repartioning with 0 swap and 0 ext. Then wipe data, cache, dalvik cache. Sometimes an issue with the sdcard is the culprit.

Otherwise, your options are the guide to rooted FroYo, maybe the LGMU version or to contact Verizon.
