Help How do i keep some apps from running?

diplomat1

Newbie
Hey guys just wanted to know how do keep some apps/games from opening like the game Nova and apps like amazon. I kill them with advanced task killer and then after a while i ook on ATK and they are back by themselves? How do i stop this cycle? ANother question is what apps can be killed without any consequenes with ATK? Can i kill stuff like Voice search, messeges, voicemail, sprint navigation and google search and they dont mess up the phone? And if i do kill them can i still use those apps on the phone after? Thanks

Root your phone and then either remove the apps, rename the apps or freeze them with titanium backup. You're going to have to get root access first though no matter how you get rid of the app.

First and foremost, task killers like ATK shouldn't be used with 2.2 and above. 2.2 does a much better job managing resources than 2.1 and below. Unless you're seeing a problem caused directly by a background program, the best course may be simply to stop micro managing the back ground apps and let the OS handle it. As already mentioned, rooting and removing some of the junkware will prevent it from running in the background. If after rooting, you still want to manage the phones memory usage, give Autokiller a try.

The reason i Use ATK is because i heard the backround apps that are running cause the battery to drain so thats why i got it. WOuld system panel lite be better? I dont want to root my phone though. Thanks for the advice. Also any info on how these apps come up? Do they come up automatically or is it because i do something? Thanks

The advice your reading about task managers is for devices that run earlier versions of Android. Task managers like ATK were helpful for Android versions earlier than 2.2. They don't play well with 2.2, are considered necessary and potentially harmful. 2.2 has much more robust task management, it's doubtful that background apps are greatly affecting your battery life. There are plenty of threads here that will help with tweaking battery life like
