It works fine for me, im running stock 2.2 on a samsung vibrant, but i am rooted, so its not the root. Maybe it could be a custom rom issue?

I am rooted but not on a custom ROM....and Worms is a no go for me. It told me it was going to download 40mb, then only downloaded 5. When I load it, it does the license verification then it closes with no error. Good ol' EA. At least they are incorrigible cross platform too!

Damn that sucks guys, and i have half a mind to go change my rating on behalf of everyone here who got hosed. I think all the one stars will take care of that for me...

Now im worried about their handling Rockband mobile. I cant wait to see how they F that up.I can only hope that because Verizon is making such a big deal out its release they will have to make it work, only leaving me with the task of getting it here from tmobile land

I'm only getting the 5MB update file which has the music in it.

Does someone want to upload the other 40MB onto multi upload and share the link?

40MB?? :( it says 53MB for me...and just downloads 5MB...then does the licence thing and well.....we all know the rest on that one lol

It's in /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/com.each.worms_ROW/
The first 5mb (that's what I'm stuck on also) is only the music. If somebody could zip the contents and upload it, that'd be appreciated!

I tried to return the game but the 15 minute window was up :-/

Emails work wonders my friend. If they get a ton of emails, it sure works better than idiots blindly down rating the game.
It's not blindly down-rating the game, since they're basing their rating on the fact that the app wouldn't so much as launch properly-- that's the minimum for most users, and I can't say it's an unreasonable expectation. Unless they are also getting dev support through the review system, its pretty much fulfilling its intended purpose, which is to provide information to other users-- not so much qualitative information for devs.

To note, I've had this happen with other apps, and I've emailed devs with thorough emails, only to get your typical response, with no real action; in general, it's hit or miss. Given the limited return window on apps these days, though, its unacceptable to have to sit there and diagnose issues, while trying to handle delayed email correspondence, within 15 minutes, before your payment turns into a 'donation'. That's just not healthy for Android.

Sadly, this is part of the problem with the Android market, but I wouldn't at all expect change to come from the end-user.

So, has anyone gotten an email response from these dbags? It's been 4 days since my e-mail with nothing. But hey! I like paying 3 bucks for icons. At least it makes the odd stranger that picks my phone up THINK I have worms....and yea.. I gave them 1 star for it. They deserve 0 stars. Down rating a game for not working is perfectly applicable.

You down rate them when there are bugs or lack of updates..pretty sure this falls under the bug category. So to state we are "blindly" down rating is a bit absurd. After all, they "blindly" took our 2.99. We have nothing but an icon in return.

PS I tried downloading on WiFi and over 3g. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. This includes deleting the downloaded data on the sdcard. It still just downloads 5mb after telling me 40, and then does the whole "License Start" then crash to home screen with no message crap...

It's crashing because you only the music, not the game data. Granted it should have a nicer error, but until you get the rest of the data onto your sd card, it will continue to crash.

Moaning isn't going to fix it, you can be part if the solution or you can be part of the problem.

No they don't respond to email. I sent them one 6 weeks ago and never got a real response. They just sent me an automated one an tell you to go to their site for support.

Their site has a support section for iPhone\iPad\iPod and then Mobile. It says for Android users to go to mobile and read the FAQ.

You can send them a message from this section. But it makes you select a wireless carrier (only US carriers) and a mobile phone by product number.

I have a Canadian Galaxy S and had no idea what the product number for the closest American Galaxy S. So I Googled it and spent a couple minutes trying to find the T-Mobile Vibrant product number.

When I did find it I returned to their mobile site to send a message to them only to find the product number for the Vibrant wasn't even listed. I did some more looking and couldn't find a single Android phone product number listed.

The thing is you can't just write your model number down. You have to select it from a ridiculously long list. A list that doesn't even have what you need.

So I selected some random Samsung phone and in the message I mentioned what phone I really have. That was two weeks ago and no response from them and no idea if it got to the right people at EA.

It could have gone to a person handling the specific series of mobiles I selected and he just trashed it saying 'that's not my department'.

The closest I've gotten to a response was from EA on twitter. On the weekend that NFS disappeared from the Market.

EA chose to tweet about my blog post for best games of 2010. I had NFS Shift on it and they mentioned that in the tweet.

I tweeted them back and asked when NFS would be back on the market. Shortly after they tweeted me back and said it was now back up.

I was like sweet, I now found a way to get in touch with EA. So I tweeted to them asking when NFS would be fixed. It worked the first week then I got an update and it never worked after that, just like Worms. But no response to this. They could be working on it, they could be just trying to sweep it under the carpet.

I just wish they would be more forthcoming and say something like 'we know there is an issue and we are working on it, more info to come.' But instead nothing, just silence and speculation as EA's community approval rating continues to drop.

how can you be 'part of the solution' when its EA who have released a game which fails to download the correct package to most users lol

And EA email support is useless....I emailed them within a minute of downloading it with failed download support asking for refund...so well within the 15 minute window...and nothing...

I do love how everyone STILL goes on about the 15minute window on the Android market and don't remember or ignore that the apple app store has NO refund policy in so far....if you have bought an app either on apple OS or for Android that WASNT through their app stores...so off the internet through your browser FROM the dev's site...then the 15 minute window doesnt apply, standard trading rules apply..I purchased N.O.V.A direct from gameloft and it failed to install for some unknown reason...got my refund after 4 hours of failed download....but I didnt buy it through the market but direct from gameloft..

Because, I should have to go out of the way to get content to work from a "top notch" organization. That makes no sense whatsoever. I could probably browse the interwebs and find some zip file someone has labeled as worms.apk.trojan.zip and put it on my card and risk things, or I could just stop buying from EA as there are various free games out there or LARGER games that work fine. EA just never gets it right on any platform. Not just Android. Yes they work better on other devices, but they still suck across the board. You can't fix bad. I will be part of the solution as soon as they tell me how to fix it from the market and not from some 8th party website. I wasn't moaning either, I was simply posting what I have tried.

Best troubleshooting methods of a team of software engineers, definitely includes a method such as QA to find problems such as this....so the fact I posted what I tried and how the customer service is...will hopefully be part of the DON'T download from EA until they stop sucking solution.

If you like buying broken things, nerdstaz@gmail.com hit me up. I have a basement full.

as I've stated before I tested an 'uploaded' version before purchasing the game myself after all the comments on there with licence issues..same issues and I cannot find the 'download' pack anywhere to test to see if it gets any further after the licence screen for the sake of those on here who have issues..and myself when emailing EA...who...well...

still haven't replied..lol

It's not just with Worms, every one of their games seems to have some sort of problem with the download...Luckily I am not one who has come across this (though I have not tried Worms).

It's not entirely "EA's" fault though, but more the management. Every major corperation has tons of corruption within, particularly with middle management that often get away with basically doing nothing. The guys on top are either oblivious to it or too lazy to do anything about it. Either way they don't care as long as they are making money. CSC is an excellent example of this.

So at least in Canada Worms is available from Electronic Arts Mobile and EA Mobile. I had originally bought from Electronic Arts Mobile. Then they released an update. After that update I got a license error. So I deleted the files on the SD card and tried again. After that it would never download all the files and the game continued not to work.

On a hunch I decided to buy Worms again, but this time from EA Mobile. I was able to download all the files and run the game with no issue. I then copied the files download from the new EA worms folder to the Electronic Arts worms folder and my original copy now works again. After that I refunded the EA Mobile version and I am happy to be back to a working copy. I have run the game a few times and it works perfectly, I just hope it lasts.

Since no one else with a working copy would do it. I upload the files for anyone else who is having this issue.

This will be of no use to you if you don't have a legitimate purchased copy of Worms.

This is for people who are not able to download the files for the game.

I also suggest that anyone getting the license error to delete their temp folder and replace it with this one and see if that helps.

If you purchased the game from EA Mobile
  1. You need to make a folder on your SD card in the Android folder
  2. The folder should be called com.ea.worms_NA
  3. Once created or if it is already there unzip and put the file folder in that folder

If you purchased the game from Electronic Arts Mobile
  • You need to make a folder on your SD card in the Android folder
  • The folder should be called com.ea.worms_ROW
  • Once created or if it is already there unzip and put the file folder in that folder

well im not sure if they sneakily updated it or something or just fixed their download servers but now my legit copy downloaded as well WITHOUT the need for the download pack from you Dave...though I thank you anyway for trying to help others out, though sadly I cant say if it WILL help or not considering mine just worked straight away this time lol

its ok...I will say its not perfect the zooming arguement for one is a little hit an miss at times....it does run smooth with all music and sound and lovely graphics....and its fun blowing the lil b*stards off the edge of the map ahaha
