I currently have a Samsung Intercept (Android 2.1) and it's fairly decent. Unfortunately I had to ditch my Droid and switch over to another provider, but that's a story for another day lol. When I had the original Droid on Verizon Wireless, I loved it. Recently I saw a friend who also has the Droid, and I noticed that when he types, the phone produced a typewriter sound
.
I checked my Intercept settings, but my keyboard "sound on keypress" is just a click. No fancy typewriter. I thought that maybe he had Gingerbread, so I found an apk for a Gingerbread keyboard for the 2.1 OS. While it looks to be identical (or a really great clone), I still wasn't able to get the typewriter sound on keypress. Ironically, the forum is full of threads regarding the removal of the sound, while I am trying to find/enable it
.
The only downside to his keyboard is that he no longer has the predictive text/correction right above the keyboard. That I love. So how did he do this?
I asked him how he did it, and he has no idea
. I won't see him for quite awhile so I won't be able to check his settings, but I don't think that he downloaded any custom keyboards. I thought that maybe HTC phones has these on their stock keyboards only, but he has a Droid so it must be some general Android setting. Hopefully I can port the apk or settings over to 2.1.
Any ideas?
