Help Cisco VPN Client for Droid X?

Larryf

Newbie
Is there a Cisco VPN client available for the Droid X? I use this for RDP to my work computer.

None of the Droid X VPN setups allow for:

  • Description: Name of VPN
  • Server: VPN address
  • Account: logon id
  • Password: logon password
  • Group Name: group name
  • Secret: secret word

No update so far. I rooted recently and removed all the VPN stuff since it's essentially useless on Android.

Is this still the case? We have some employees that want to start using tablets, but that's pointless without a vpn client for our cisco router.

I just checked the google thread and it still isn't supported by default. You still need to root your device and do some hacking to get it working.

Man, crazy. Even with tablets, you think they would release something. Root is nice for us nerds but not clients. I simply cannot void warranties for my customers.

I agree with you. That says to me that Google isn't really interested in going after the enterprise segment and they're happy with what little enterprise support they have.

I can't believe that BT have an app for Android so that you can access BT Fon and OpenZone and offer the Cisco VPN for Apple - and not Android! It's about time they got on to Cisco's case to remedy this.

There are times when I feel like an alien - being a Droid user makes me part of a super-race, but the locals are frightened of us and resistant to our superior powers!

^Cisco VPN support is built into iOS since either 1.1 or 2.0.. That's why it was such a shock to me that Android doesn't support it.
