Root [ROM RELEASE] Velocity V1.0

I installed this earlier in the day, but I was getting some FCs in LauncherPro and 1 soft reset doing something else. I restored my nandroid just for the day, but will be reinstalling Velocity tonight. I'll try to do some testing and documenting as requested.

VERY fast and nice ROM from the short time I had it installed. I do have a few questions:

How should the SD Card be configured? I noticed it supports ext4, so I imagine you would partition it as before, but I wanted to check.

What is the recommended way to configure apps2sd? (Recommended by the Devs, that is)

I still experienced the Disabled Wifi issue. Is there a better fix for this than using WiFi Fixer?

Thanks. And as always, your hard work is greatly appreciated !!

This may hep you:

Before flashing Velocity, I cleaned up my SD, copied it to my computer, wiped everything, partitioned my card (chose 1152MB for ext2) with 0MB swap, upgraded to ext3, then to ext4, copied my SD backup to my SD card, flashed velocity v1.0 and enjoyed. I call this the clean install and I used this routine every time with little problems.

Don't have an answer on the Wifi thing.

Love the download. But i push my camera button on my phone the phone locks up with a blank screen. I cleaned and reinstalled and it doesnt change. Tried to set the oc lower and still the same thing. Any one else havin tihis problems or any suggestions? Camera icon works though. Otherwise no problems. Any help would be appreciated.

I did the same as you did, except my ext partition is only 512MB and seems adequate to my needs. What actually seems to have resolved my issue is that, as suggested by Trident, I wiped all and reflashed Velocity v1.0 again. This time around, at least thus far, no FCs. I'll be testing further, Ocing, etc. I'll let you know how it goes.

One minor thing I notice is that the battery icon doesn't properly report the remaining battery. As soon as the battery level drops below 100%, it shows 80 on the battery icon, and it stays that way until drops below 70%. Not a big deal, but a minor bug I think. Also, I'm accustomed to the LG "Themes" method of switching between launchers. I've installed Launcher Pro, and I'm allowed to select it as the app to use on initial boot when opening the unlock screen, but cannot figure out how to switch between that and the default Velocity launcher after that. Am I missing something, or can I install the LG "Themes" apk to manage the launchers?
Overall, I'm very pleased with this ROM-it's fast, smooth, and user friendly.

The ally's battery reports in the following increments: 0% 10% 20% 40% 60% 80% 100%

It isn't a bug, we just don't currently have a set up for accurate to the % battery readings. In due time I could see this changing.

You are having problems going between launchers because you picked launcher pro as your default. You have a few options though, one being that you go into your applications in settings and go to launcher pro and clear its defaults. Second option is to download a program from the market that switches between different launchers. Off the top of my head I think one is called Home Switcher.

Ahh..that explains the battery icon..I was a bit suspicious of this, but wasn't sure. Good enough for me-I'm not sweating the little things like this, just wanted to mention it incase it was an unknown problem.
I didn't choose Launcher Pro as my default, I just told the system to use that one instead of "Launcher 2" when opening the lockscreen after boot. I just was not sure if there was any other method of switching launchers other than the stock "Homeselector", or another add-on app.
Thanks,
JL

If you do not have a default set, you can simply hit the home button.

Anyone else have a problem with the gallery endlessley loading and the camera not getting of preparing sd card? Or the gpu not even being able to play the videos recorded by the phone? I cleaned up the excess form the sd card and even formatted it. I'm gonna just try and re run the rom and see what happens :)

I use "Battery Solo Widget" on my home screen, and it reports the battery status in 1% increments.

I just took this, it's "so so pretty"!

Just made my donation, keep up the great work, this round of Redbulls are on me! :D

WOW! Been using V1.0 for 2 days and it rocks! Just got a Quadrant of 1205 and beat the Droid X and the Evo. Thanks a lot for the awesome work you guys do. Without genius's like you guys this phone would have went back the first month. Now I love it! Can't wait to see what comes next!

How did you do that is it a widget? or what app is driving it?
I don't know if this is directed at me or not, but if so then the screenshot includes:

1. Velocity V1.0 wallpaper, no changes, as it came is as I like!

2. Beautiful Widgets - Beautiful Weather Home widget with the Flipturn clock skin and the Androdena Weather Pack. Widget settings, centered weather icon, GPS weather updates, transparency to full.

3. Stock power widget all I did was long press, add widget, power control

4. Launcher Pro dock, standard icons that come with app, I do have two docks, you slide between them.

And that's my homescreen setup, simple but very nice looking. I have friends with much higher priced and better spec phones who are very jealous of my little Ally. Without the Velocity roms I would have burned this phone in the fireplace by now, but thanks to these devs, it's the proverbial "shit". If you like what you see and enjoy this rom as much as I do, donate. You know it can only get better from here and Redbull seems to be the grease on the wheels of progress, help them keep things rolling!

I'm loving this rom. Thanks for the great work. I also just discovered the Velocity scripts. Is it possible to enable specific ads but not all of them? AudioGalaxy reports it is being blocked but I don't know how to unblock without unblocking all.

Quick question beofre I redo the rom. Do you have to run the back up if you don't car about the phone data?

Backup isn't really for the data.
It's in case something hoes wrong while flashing the rom, you have something that you can go back to.

I, for one, completely forgot to backup first. Luckily the rom flashed fine.

i did the same thing when i flashed savs rom on. didnt even make a nandroid. but i made one of his when i flashed to velocity.

does anybody have a stock rom in case i ever had to go back?
