RE: pre sale sellouts, polls that everyone on earth is switching to the iPhone, etc.
Apple builds great devices, but their true prowess of late has been marketing, i.e. playing the tech media. Things like alleged sellouts and these polls are nothing more than free Apple advertisements. If anything goes wrong with the roll out, serious Android security or design flaws will flood out of the tech media in an attempt to move the Apple problems from the front page. While the whole ip4 death grip thing may show that Apple has lost a little of its hold on the tech media, there are still a ton of journalists and bloggers hungry to garner and maintain Apple favor. Then there are "journalists" like Pogue and Mossberg who are little more than Apple marketing department spokesman. I don't think anywhere in history has there been a company more in control of its message and image.
I think the iPhone in general is a watershed device and worthy of consideration. If the vPhone were LTE or something other than a rehash of a device already nearing its EOL, I could understand the desire. OTH, to those who intend to stand on line to get yesterday's phone at todays price because Steve Jobs compels you ? You're iDIOTS!!!!!

And even if they do "peter out" after a few days, considering HTC said they sold Sprint 3 million EVO's TOTAL.. i'd say that is better than good.
