how much can software optimization do?

Ruben

Android Expert
I am impressed with the eris' 528MHz processor from two years ago. But, how much more can be done? Will the keyboard ever be multi touch? Will stuff be sped up over time? The list goes on and on.

Using the Hero as an example, software optimisation can work wonders!

The firmware update it received completely transformed the user experience, so I would be hopeful that similar will come to the Eris when it receives an update.

Thank you for the response; disregarding joker's post.

Wow...ok. Just thought it was apparent that there was a stickied convo about this whole topic, not to mention numerous ways to find info on other sites, not to mention software has upgraded hardware for decades.

My bad. No more posting for me.

Well there's just a much nicer way to go about something like that.

I have given up on trying to get people to use the search to find answers to their questions. Its just easier for every Tom, Dick and Harry to start a new topic.

Can you tell me which sticky it is? I don't know if you are getting confused with the battery optimization thread because they both have the word optimization in it.

I asked how far it could go, and then even a moderator chimed in with an answer. I appreciate that.

If you think it shouldn't be answered, yet you post, I think is a bit ridiculous. Like you think you will have influence on everyone not to post. I don't want to start a fight (especially on a forum lol).

Also, I have only asked about two questions about the ERIS on this forum. Sure! I have had lots of questions, but I searched and BAM there are my answers; don't assume that I don't search the forums. I feel like you have something against me trying to kill me or something ... :(

As others have stated, software can certainly optimize hardware thus making it "faster" (aka run more smoothly). Have you ever updated Windows on a home computer and either had it "speed up" or "slow down"? Same thing.
