And here comes a monkey wrench...

I'd be willing to pay $45 for unlimited data on AT&T, MAYBE. But it would have to be REAL 4G...I'm not paying a premium for faux 4G

How much data do they give you with a teethering plan?

That might be an option..

Isn't it $45? How much data comes with that?

Was Deleted but there is some important info there that needs to be discussed.

Mainly...Marc mentioned that there is a family data plan??? 5G for $55.

I want info about that

Also...i DID also see it confirmed that The verizon unlimited plan was most likely temporary promotional only. I cant remember where but i could probably do a search if someone wants to see that.

Now that's promising 55 for 5G for.family data. My plan has 3 people on it we pay 60 the other two phones barely hit 200mb I use 1-2 max so would it make more sense to loose my unlimited and save the 5 a month?

I'm not even sure. Right now I tether for free using my Nexus One, though I rarely use that feature. The thing is: I've been wanting to leave AT&T for a long time because of their lack of Android devices...so now they finally start getting some kick ass Android phones and they want to take my unlimited plan away. It feels very backhanded to me. That is why I'm pissed about this. It has been very hard to be an Android user and be with AT&T the last few years and now that things start getting better they want to shaft me.

I guess it's AT&T's way of saying thanks for sticking with us! :D

Just check before you make the move....i really think verizon just did the unlimited as a promotional for the iphone. Probably to make Apple happy.

Oh I don't expect to get unlimited data with Verizon...but I am not going to pay AT&T another red cent for data after all these years of sticking with them when they wouldn't bring in any decent Android devices.

If I'm going to have to pay for metered data, it will be with another carrier. Like I posted in the other thread. Verizon has the AT&T version of the Inspire(Thunderbolt) and it has TRUE 4G(LTE) capability. That makes it a little more sensible to pay more for data. AT&T wants to charge me metered data for what is, let's be real here, 3.5G. They are not going to hose me after being loyal all these years. I'll take my money to Verizon...as much as I would hate to do it.

Also the Thunderbolt can do data and voice over 3G so you don't lose that feature.

Conventional wisdom is that while verizons voice covers more square miles, AT&Ts data is both faster, more wide spread, and that their 4G will be better than verizons also.

Not to mention that AT&T lets you surf the web/look up something/look at a map/check for an email WHILE you are on the phone while verizon does NOT. (a feature i actually DO use quite often). Especially while on hold or in a boring conversation...

Android Central just posted an update Android Central | Android Forums, News, and Help

"We were just contacted by a representative from AT&T who saw our post about the leaked 4G policy memo, and wanted to clarify a very important point about their new 4G plans. I quote:

Customers who currently have an unlimited plan can upgrade to a 4G device and keep their unlimited plans.

They did not dispute the validity of the leaked memo, but they were kind enough to tell us a part of the story that the original leak missed. So put away those pitchforks. Thanks for the clarification AT&T!"

Heck I actually have a Nexus One, much earlier than the Captivate. I had to buy a full price $550 phone just to be able to have a decent Android device on AT&T. I agree it has been VERY hard to be an Android fan and be with AT&T. Like I said, taking my unlimited data plan away is their was of saying thanks.

You know I feel your angst it does suck. I just had a really bad experience years ago when I left to check out " the network" so I could never bring myself back there. If you do hope you have a better situation than I did

Cautiously optimistic but am not expecting a smooth day on Sunday.

If they try and take away my unlimited ill walk or talk to someone else who doesn't (it sounds like the wild west with everyone doin something different and there may be a few casualties of stupid)

I almost wonder if the best way to get the Inspire is to call AT&T and renew over the phone and have them send the Inspire thru the mail. Would mean waiting a little to get it but at least the chances of our plans getting screwed up would be less.

That's not what AT&T just told me. They said you cam keep the 3G unlimited plan but not the 4g. 200mb and 2gb plans are for 4g from what I was just told by a customer service rep.

Hopefully with this updated news I will be staying with you at AT&T.:)
