I don't think best buy did a good job advertising the iPhone on VZ (or the thunderbolt really, for that matter...) at all.

For my evidence, there was a huge line at the Verizon store this morning (obviously many were pre-orders), but late after noon the Best Buy right across the street had over 100 Verizon iPhone 4's in stock, along with a drop shipment of 20 more on the way.
 
I reserved a Bolt yesterday at BB, and as of 5pm yesterday their system still said 2/14 (not that it really means anything).

I was at the store in Lancaster, PA, and I asked the guy how Iphone sales were going. He said other than the pre-ordered phones they had not sold a single one! HA!

BB does not offer cheaper retail. We mark up our retail. The TB cost 749 here at BB. It's 649 att VZ. The iphone is 699 here at B while its 649 at VZ

It simply depends on the phone, your situation, your plan/upgrade needs, promos currently running, and on the store's policy itself.

Our store used to match new every two. Now we have a new manager that does not. Like you said, the D'Inc was free with new service or a 2 year upgrade for a LONG time at Best Buy. Best buy's insurance is also better and worse. It's more expensive per month, but there's no deductible to replace a destroyed phone. Verizon honors the 1 year upgrades. Best buy does not. There are pros and cons to each provider. I just bought a Fascinate for my wife for Valentine's Day yesterday, and I had Best Buy price match Walmart, that currently has it for $48. Verizon doesn't have anything close to that on the Fascinate for a two year upgrade.

Sometimes Best Buy will be the best, and sometimes Verizon will, or Walmart, or Amazon. Just depends. I've been in electronics retail for six years, much of that time dealing with cell-phones. Just get what fits your situation the best.
 
Well I have been lurking around the Thunderbolt forums as this phone really has captured my interest. I am currently a iPhone 4 user on ATT but with there changes to plans and features has got me wondering if I should say with them. So after some checking I found out I can get a 22% discount on my monthly bill based on the company I work for even though this would be my personal phone.

What's kept me as an ATT customer is the fact my wife and son also have ATT, but with the new unlimited mobile to mobile plan from ATT now gives me more options.

So today I went and pre-ordered the Thunderbolt from Best Buy. I thought I would try it out and see how well it works for me. What finally got me to consider this move was the LTE speed tests I've seen. Since I live in an area where LTE is already launched this works out. So I'm going to pick one up and test it for the 14 days and then decide if it's worth switching carriers for.

By the way I'm also picking up a HTC Inspire 4G on Sunday and will be testing it out until the Thunderbolt comes outs.Either way I'm getting an Android phone it just down to the carrier at this point.

They don't always make you pay the 35. My brother had the Droid X for a month and returned it and told the people at Verizon he was going to wait for the thunderbolt (they let him play with the dummy unit) and didn't charge him the 35 "restocking fee"
Hell they even took back the car mount and car charger. I was shocked to be honest
 
That's still hard to believe seeing how they don't have any to hand out yet. I just got back from my Best Buy and believe me if they had any they would have sold me one to pick up tomorrow. I specifically asked if they had gotten their shippment and no this wasn't a regular worker, it was the manager of the Mobile unit or what ever you call them. Read my post in the Best Buy thread. ;-)
 
My best buy, as they said the day I pre-ordered, said today that there still isn't a hard release date or retail price. So, I don't put much stock in what any particular BB says.

Yeah even though they say I am getting it tomorrow I highly doubt I am.
 
I am confused on how people really think Best Buy is going to get this phone BEFORE VZW?

I mean VZW spent the money at CES, promoted it along side HTC. Do you all really think BB will have it BEFORE VZW, seriously? BB has exclusive for brick and mortar, thats it.

I could be wrong but it just seems BB lately has been playing devils advocate and all these "release info" seems awful peculiar to me.

Just my thoughts....

I know, its a VERIZON phone, theres no way BB will get it before VZW. It seems to me with this phone, BB is being very aggressive with their advertising, release dates and prices.

Agreed. I find more and more I am shaking my head that people are thinking they are picking this up tomorrow. Ain't happening.
