Sad Goodbye

I might sound crazy but I still think that the Xoom isn't overpriced. It's downright expensive but not overpriced compared to the Ipad or any other tablets. It's definitely a High end product from a notable manufacturer. I'm not saying that I will purchase it for that amount but I understand why it's priced that way.

With Apple, the draw to paying the premium is the amazing app ecosystem. I have the 64gb ipod and luv the app store and stunningly good games. I will take my gtablet, iPod and Incredible to tether them both, over a $800 tablet. Heck, my gtablet and iPod together was $86 less than Zoom.

BTW, I luv the iPod, but prefer my Incredible over an iPhone- anyday.

Just saw the official price of the Xoom on Best Buy's website...$1199.99!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Yep, I just saw that too:

Motorola - XOOM Tablet / NVIDIA Tegra Processor / 10.1" Display / 1GB Memory / 32GB Hard Drive - Licorice - 990000745

Best buy is notorious for setting their pre-release prices really high though, I guess it discourages people from wanting to get their hands on one immediately when they can't sell them yet. I bet it goes down once they are actually on shelves.

Laughing at the Wife issues. A device that you have to hack to make work properly must be MUCH less expensive or nobody will buy it. The Xoom will come down in price once a bunch of these things are shipping. I am guessing $500 will get you a great dual core WIFI only tablet by the end of June.

I don't see that happening, at least not for 8-12 months, the manufacturers have us over a barrel and will charge what they see fit.

I will also have to disagree not until maybe christmas and $600 would be the price point.

I was all about the Xoom until I found out about the Gtab . Seems as if the Gtab is great for people like us , it doesn't have great manufacture support or advertising and is really not a great product out of the box but it's open customization that is available is great . And XDA seems to have adopted to it nicely .

Now instead of buying a Xoom I'll get a Gtab and pay for my flight to Vegas next month and then still have money left over

Yep. Even at $600 (maybe wifi-only price), I am still not too thrilled with the Xoom due to being locked down and no apparent USB host. Still $250 more than the gtablet. $800 and a required one month data plan is pure crazy. I guess VZW will figure this out real quick with low sales.

This is one area where TMobile is nice. Just pull the sim from your phone and plop it in the tablet. Shame Tmo coverage sucks real bad in Kentucky.

The gtab is definitely a bargain tab. As I said before, it'll be evident when all the other tabs come out especially the mainstream tablets.

Xoom- $800+ $600+ for wifi only.
HTC Flyer- $700+ (that's the rumor)
Samsung Galaxy tab 2- $600+ (that's my guess and it's very optimistic)
LG G-Slate and Asus - Both don't have prices yet but I'm a little scare what they'll be priced at based on how Moto, HTC, and Samsung are pricing their tablets.

So the Gtablet at around $400+ at it's highest is ok. The Gtablet doesn't excel at anything but at least it can do almost anything. :D
People should be at least satisfied for what they get for the price. It fills my time well having the gtablet. I'm not clamoring or having seizures waiting for a tablet replacement.
