Root Alpha Froyo from Punk Kaos

Yeah, I don't get all the questioning about why the leak isn't being released. We don't have all the information and we probably never will...deal with it. The devs are working in the background, the delay simply means we'll have that much more of a finished product when it does get released.

exactly.

we should just be thankful for what we get. not arguing over the reasons why we dont have something :)

I agree but also think that rather than such people meaning to be rude or ungrateful they just don't understand how this all works...and don't get the "etiquette" towards devs, so lets educate, not berate :-)

(Not saying that's what's happening, just making a general observation)

LOL, I can assure you I'm not some corporate spy seeking information relating to the source of the leak. That's pretty funny though. I'm just a newb who doesn't know anything about who devs are, where leaks come from, or where the magical signal comes from that allows me to connect to the internet and speak to people halfway across the world from this small little hand held device!

Just loving my DJ05 with undervolted, stock clocked kernel and blackish theme (my wife thinks I'm a total nerd for even knowing what any of those things mean). Can't wait to see what 2.2 has in store for all of us!

Plus, I'm a criminal defense attorney - I don't prosecute - just defend those who are being prosecuted! lol

Number one Corporate spy rule is never tell them your a corp spy, claim to be a newb! :D Trouble is only Corp spies use the word "newb" lol

How do you get on IRC? What is IRC? lol
Internet relay chat
freenode Web IRC (qwebirc) - unless you use an irc client then its irc.freenode.net
channel is #samsung-fascinate or fascinate-froyo
There are generally a few hundred people logged in maybe half are active at any given minute. There's a good chance some one super duper smart is in there if you need help or info or whatever.

You'll see a bunch a familiar AF names in there:D

Thanks for the info :). I had already downloaded droid life app off the market and have been looking around. I saw a few familiar names from here. I can't figure out how to join the samsung fascinate channel. I'm going to try fascinate froyo.

edit: Okay I'm in. It's easier using androIRC.

Yeah we started on freenode went to droid life and are now back on freenode

Wow with all this genuine Froyo action and everyone enjoying some incarnation of DL30, this thread has slid a bit. Even I didnt see this little gold mine till this morning from PK:

Just been busy this week. Occasionally my day job requires me to work on something NON android related
wink.gif
I've got several big things brewing. Working on both .32 and .35 kernels, as well as CM7(GB). Hold tight, you'll see new stuff soon!

yeah that was neat to read the other day...although im kinda meh on gb being worked when there seems to be so much to do for froyo aosp...but if the work for both complements each other than great :)

Im with ya there. Its a tad puzzling to us outsides to see the brain-trust divide their efforts. PK doing his stuff with CM and whatnot, JT on aosp and everything else. Jamezelle seemingly only on MIUI. Bird doing Lord knows what. However, they do what they like and thats their prerogative. Although I do believe if we threw them all in a room together for 24 hours and said work on a common project. They'd come out with a full aosp GB but anyway.
It would be nice to see some actual kernels though. AFAIK PK is pro voodoo. Im not holding my breathe on the birdman .32 kernel.

yeah i mean when you compare what we have now and whats in development to where we were the week before christmas...its startling the move forward...so no complaints here :)

Same issues. Might as well end up with the new one at the end instead of the old.

i suppose...although kaos said earlier that on the eris froyo is still faster than gb despite all his progress...so id take a more complete and faster froyo aosp...over gb just because its newer

The eris limitation is of course its inferior hardware and that still was a .29 kernel PK was using. The SGS clearly has the hardware to drive GB. Im all for using whatever is best overall. Fully voodoo'd .32kernel and Froyo surely is going to be better than a hack and slash incomplete GB. Yet it seems likely we can have a fully or near fully working GB/.35kernel experience as well. Time will tell, its all win win from here on out

Suppose I could bump this up. Had a tweet a few hours back from PK with a picture of him on Gingerbread (2.3)

Any ideas if he's just gonna go right past froyo and into GB?
