Best Buy Details

Out of curiosity, I did ask one of the people I spoke with that if it being in the ad means that if they have it in stock, they will sell it. They said no, they won't sell it until they are told they can.

Like I said, I appreciate what you have brought here, but an ad is meaningless, really. Things change, just like the small print says. I am hoping it didn't, and that it does come out as early as monday, but it is quite possible that it won't. You should at least acknowledge that.

I'm so tired of T-Mo (basement office = no signal with them), and my G1 contract is done this month.

I just got off the phone with a BB here in OKC, I'm going to stop by after work to start my VZW contract with the Dinc (w00t nothing out of pocket, good bye G1), then will just bring it back when the TBolt (which I've pre-ordered) launches.

Let's all get along. If someone posts "info" and can not back it up, move on. No need to gang up on someone.

We all know the facts. It does NOT matter what Best Buy says, so far it has got them no where fast. When VZW announces it, that is when BB will be selling it.

I am going to say this one more last time, BEST BUY WILL NOT HAVE THIS PHONE BEFORE VERIZON. PERIOD!!!

LMAO - You are absolutley right. HOWEVER :D This release has been nothing short of a:

  • Train Wreck
  • Heart Breaker
  • Roller Coster
  • Heart Stopper
  • Soap Opera
  • Wearing out F5 Keys everywhere
  • Etc Etc Etc

So at this point nothing would surprise me.

That being said, this is VZW first LTE phone. I can not see anyone having dibs over selling this before them.

My digitizer died. First it stop responding in the area above the Home icon, then it just cracked in the same area. A few hours later, it wouldn't even turn on. It lived a full life and died gloriously.
 
Best Buy guy told me that their share went from 1% to like 4% in the mobile market in the last two years and its increasing still. So they are a major player in mobile sales. I would not be surprised at all if Best Buy starts selling it on the 21st before verizon, I know it doesn't make sense but they have have exculse retail rights to the phone, so that tells you may be they pulled off some kinda deal with verizon. I have seen more impossible things happen in my life, this is just who sells the phone first.

May be best buy will advertise it and verizon will just keep their mouth shut until whenever they wanna launch it officially.

As far as AD goes, someone who said that they dont have to sell it if they dont.

It is a bad business practice to stamp something on the ad and not say the availability date on it. If it doesn't say available 24th or anything then the customer assumes that it is available. It is a plain lie to do this. I work retail and sometimes other stores have an item in stock and we dont and it goes on ad. Doesn't mean we cant sell it we just dont have it. If we advertise it and dont say anything about availability the customer has the right to assume that we have it.

Dont brag about a phone that you cant sell without putting an availability of the phone on the ad. Technically if we dont have a street date on the item we sell it regardless. If the system doesn't stop us from selling it we will sell that thing.

errrr....except that I was in a Verizon corp. store today and asked about our favorite non-launching phone and here is what they really, truly said to me: "Don't know when we're getting it, but we have been told that Best Buy will have it before us." This is absolutely what they said - granted it doesn't really add anything to our knowledge base...but I found it to be a first for me in all of this.

Sooooo....play nice....:o

thank god we have a mod following this forum! the mud slinging was almost unberable. no sense in ganging up on those who post their opinions or info they have heard. isn't that what we all are doing at some point?

jeez! it felt like a bunch of junior high kids ganging up on the new guy.:rolleyes:
 
i dont think it is vzw's intentions to have best buy selling this phone before them. but if best buy doesn't get the note, i could see them doing just that.
 
First off I would just like to say, Thank You VERY MUCH everyone for being so entertaining this entire post long. I am #1 on my local Best Buy's preorder list in Towson, MD. I go into the store every other day during my lunch hour to bother the employees at BB Mobile. And they showed me the in stock date of 21st on their pc, and confirmed everything Jay has said so far.

So I just talked to my mobile guy at BB and he said the 24th for sure. If there are reports that say that people are buying them the 20th or 21st am I in my right to go tell them that they should be selling me one?
 
Just left my local, small town, Verizon retailer and the guy there told me he hasn't heard anything about the phone other than that they will be getting it in and its going to be awesome. He told me to come back in a month and ask again... He also added that they just recently got training for it yesterday or something.
 
I think vzw has 100 different emails and scenarios they send out to all their stores just to create drama and interest in the products... only the competition knows when its coming out, just ask at&t they will tell you.

If that were to happen, I highly doubt you would be the only person trying to get theirs. Hell, I'll be right there with you trying to get mine.
