Best Buy Details

I am as angry as anyone else over this phone's release issues.

But I just took as step back and realized these things:
A.__ Verizon never put out a concrete release date, BB just speculated.
ii.__ Verizon is KNOWN to never release a device or update with major obvious issues, so maybe that is what is holding up the line here. I would rather have a phone with little to no issues than to have one that annoys me with an issue that "will be fixed later".
3.__ This IS great free advertising for both Best Buy and VZW

not yet, still says 2-21-11, but that makes exception for holidays, so I'm still assuming 2-22-11 or something as the in stock here.

except if you guys all recall, FedEX and UPS still ship on Monday even though its Presidents Day, i posted that a few pages back

but i can see either Tuesday or wednesday it as arriving
from past experience though for VZW stores, i was always told they only receive shipments every thursday, but i'm going to leave that out since thats apparently not the case with delayed handsets like the Thunderbolt.

I'm still confident we'll see it by the end of this week if not definitely by March.

anyone able to check Verizon's internal system to see if that Skype message about it arriving on the 28th is still there?

I already got my accessories ordered and am ready to go
got a car cradle that fits the Desire HD, a second USB cable, and a mini car charger all for $10 on ebay with no shipping :P even have the holster pre-ordered on Amazon

i'm ready for this thing to strike already

Just got back from pre-ordering at bb. The rep seemed to be knowledgeable and said they don't know the release date is but they will definitely release it before Verizon. I was surprised she admitted the delay was to "help the iPhone sales." I hadn't even asked about the delay. I still think bb will release on the 24th and Verizon on the 28th.

lol, i like your numbering but I dont get the mu part...

Verizon did say frebrero at one point. And don't quote me on this, but I think they tweeted February as well.

I don't recall them every Tweeting February. You might be thinking of the "Sooner than expected" Tweet, which is comical. How can something be sooner than expected if you've never told us to expect it?

Could not agree more.

black_man_x The Mobile Panda
This thunderbolt mess has truly reached the level of shitstorm that can only be attributed to how "sources" really don't know a damn thing

black_man_x The Mobile Panda
Can't predict something that wasnt yours to call. Said march an NO one wanted to listen to me. Pushing up device launch for hype. Not smart

black_man_x The Mobile Panda
You want it now but what happens when u go to make a data call and ur device resets because the network isn't tuned to handle the stress??

someone called my store a half hour ago and I talked to them (Montogmery County, MD) wonder if he in a member of these forums..

I want it so bad lol

Also would like to say, one of the first leaks was that poem (by BMX), which after using my Secret Society Decoder Pin made it "appear" around St. Patricks Day, which is mid March.

They said at CES "as early as March" so it makes sense for why they tweeted that.

on another note, if everyone recalls the teaser ad with the thunder countdown and girl in Spanish, it says at the end "feburary" (in spanish)
then it was put to private after it was made known that the 14th date wouldn't be made along with Amazon removing the release date.

then around the following week, they posted the english version which says at the end "coming soon", and not too long after that we started seeing thunderbolt ads on websites, which are now also being shown on tv

It kinda seems Verizon has this well orchestrated to build hype, Viral marketing sells a ton of units just like it did for the Droid when it first launched.

but today, black_man_x the one that tweeted about the Thunderbolt having LTE hand off issues, tweeted once more today about the thunderbolt release date mess, here's what he has to say about it all

ncx_twitter_Thunderbolt_blackmanx1-1.png

dag gum it, I took too long.... oh well, its already here....

I think today was going to be the release day for BB n 24th for us (VZW) Monday would have been the day that which the phone would have been officially anounced by VZW but due to the "delays" the days were pushed backed. Looking at the VZW memo about skype I highly doubt this is the cause for the delay. Just speculations. Because skype was NEVER on the device just a DEMO not even a real application. It is NOT baked into the software of the phone. That was just a misunderstanding from an unfinalized product and a video from youtube. Skype WILL be included that was the purpose of the memo. Telling workers it will be available on the 28th. Something that is non existing on device can't hold it back from a release. I really wish "private company memos" weren't plastered all over blog sites. People say BB VZW and HTC are to blame but they are not. Its thoes who jump the gun without knowing what's going on. It would be too funny if things go as planned. I wonder what will become of this thread IF the device is actually announced as planned.

My reasoning behind checking the memo for Skype was if bestbuy says it won't be available, and Skype is still coming on the 28th, its enough reason to believe that the phone is still going to launch before Skype comes out, which was said for the 28th and that best buy posted that so angry customers already pissed off about the delays will not get pissed off when they try to use Skype and find out its not there.

I mean seriously, why would they go out of there way to let customers know its not going to be available when it should be out either the end of the month or not long after?

Simple: because they either know the phone is going to launch before Skype is available (due Feb 28) or there just covering there butts from potential ad fraud

I can't see any reasoning behind why else they would tell customers it wouldn't be available

This phone HAS been delayed. Whether that delay was made public or not (it wasn't) isn't the point. What I'm curious about is WHO ELSE could be responsible if it isn't the Manufacturer, Carrier OR Vendor?

As far as the device being announced as planned, it would be easier to move a mountain with a spoon than to convince me there was or is a "plan"

Imma go get my spoon.
No, I think Verizon, HTC, and Bestbuy could have handled this MUCH better. Even if they did nothing to start the rumors (which I doubt), they could have controlled the rumors with a few simple announcements.

Exactly!!! The even more proof on top of what I was told about the launch date being the 28th I promise they will not risk losing customers to att n the atrix. See the "iPhone wars" don't be shocked if VZW release it with a 199 price tag and unlimited data.

So you think they would just anounce the first 4G lte phone without a "plan"? Come on now man.

Yes. I do. I think the barrage of ads that started on the 14th were (obviously) bought ahead of time, and that the phone was scheduled to be released then. Since then, I think it's all been "seat of the pants" Explain to me how Steve Jobs can walk off the stage at the end of a keynote, and I can go to apple.com or (in some cases) an Apple retailer and buy the item he just introduced into the reality distortion field. Other times the item isn't available right away, but they give a DATE. Verizon can't give a date for a phone! I chose "can't" over "won't" because "won't" just makes ZERO sense. Everybody rips on Apple, but they can announce a product, announce a date, and then have that product ship from Asia to the US, get distributed to Apple stores and resellers, and be on sale right on schedule. Verizon has been tripping all over themselves for the past two weeks! Black_man_x hinted today that there are problems. They should never have shown this phone at CES unless they knew the problems and had a PLAN to correct them and release the phone.

See where I'm going here? There is a multi-million dollar, 60,000sq ft construction underway on property at work. It started over a year ago. It's right on schedule for an April 1st opening. THAT is a plan. A sequence of steps leading to completion. If it's open ended with "no release date" that's not a plan...

Please let us know what you find out. I guess the only thing I can say is that yes I'm mad and want my phone, but I did it to myself when I expected to get it and they haven't even announced a release date.:(

All this uproar and the date hasn't even been written in granite yet.

Everyone sounds like a bunch of renegade monkeys who's bananas have been taken from them.  :p

It helps when Steve Jobs has to only deal with one company. Then that company has the ability to dictate to phone companies their demands. Verizon, HTC, and BB are dealing together to get this phone done and in the hands of us common folk. That interaction often leads to leaks that is what is causing all of this uproar. If this were Apple, at this point we wouldn't know that there was even a device that was known as the Thunderbolt and we'd all be buying Incredibles until the day the new phone is released.

are you forgetting about the White iPhone non-sense?
Were starting to stray off topic

Yeah because Apple knows the fanboi's will buy anything that comes out that is new and has an Apple logo and the word "iphone" on it, so even if they were buying another device right before the launch of a new one, they would either try to return it and get the new one or just pony up for the full cost. I've seen it happen many times.

Relax dude, it's a plan. Albeit a different one than the proprietary Apple, but a plan nonetheless. The phone will blow away the i in performance, rootability, free open source apps, screen, speed and swappable battery, just to name a few. Apple is cool, sexy and a leader in slick technology, no doubt about it. So to just mimic their release protocols is pretty pointless, you can't beat them at their own game. So HTC does it a little differently, they keep us guessing and create a different kind of buzz. Big deal. Bottom line we're all going to get one and show it off to our i buddies and android folks. Now that's a plan.

WHY SO SERIOUS?

Lol this form is really entertaining to say the least.

One thing we can all agree on is that we will all have the HTC Thunderbolt when It comes out. Im getting mine from VZW though. Lol nothing against BB
