Best Buy Details

I'm not really upset with the delays.

Just the lack of information. I go to the internet for answers and I come back even more confused. I really just want a new phone, I may just buy the iphone, the more I sit here and marinate about it, the more the sheer size of this device starts to bother me..

But I want my free turn by turn direction, and 4G internet.. :/

my Best Buy told me in confidence the 24th and the manager said he will call me when they are in. cool thing is im number one on the list so im hanging in there, i dont care at this point. i like reading the different post. i will say this i dont know any of you guys but hang tight we will get the info we need

Going to best buy right now. Will report my findings!

So I did then I asked do you know when its coming out. she said I cant SAY anything but then she was pointing to a piece of paper that said 24th was the date! :D I hope its true. She said for sure

How can you ask us to hang in there like that - don't you notice what's going here?? The thunderbolt hasn't been released. Do you even know what that means? No...I don't either. But I'm absolutely certain I should be upset about it. ;)

Actually, I think that the unknown does induce stress. Especially when we've preordered, paid, and put some faith in dates we were told when we forked over the cash. But, since all this has been my choice, I refuse to complain. I will, however, take the liberty of remaining highly curious.

This is the biggest cluster f in history, every other bb has said something different along with every other verizon store. I have a friend at a verizon store in the next town over and I have been kind of asking him every other week if he has any info. So I message him on facebook tonight and he says the 24th and its about a 90% for sure thing. But my local bb called today and told me that it is delayed and that don't know when it's com in out, so who really freakin knows, I guess we will know in a few days.

good deal rocky

This might be off topic, but if someone can point me in the right direction I sure would appreciate it. On the Incredible it has the optical track pad, what does the Thunderbolt have that enables you to scroll back and correct a word etc? Anyone know how thats done?

Because of the TB larger area on the screen, it actually has a touch screen directional pad.

When you or I open up our qwerty keyboard the letters p, l, m, the delete key and the enter are at the furthest right of the screen. The shots I've seen of the TB qwerty have directional arrows to the right. I'm kind of curious myself to see how they react. The optical thing we have is useful, but can be very sensitive at times too.

Since people are saying you can't compare this launch with an Apple product launch, then let's compare Android to Android. HTC to HTC. AT&T announced the HTC Inspire 4G and the Motorola Atrix 4G at CES. AT&T later announced a release date of 2/13 for the Inspire 4G. 2/13 rolled around and *gasp* The phone was available for sale. No push backs, no pre-orders without a release date no leaked photos or AT&T employees who have never even heard of the phone. I can't understand why some of you feel it's ok that the launch of this phone has been handled this way. Best Buy doesn't make the phones or the plans so they wouldn't have gone public with a date if they handn't been told by Verizon when the phone would launch. Just because they haven't officially said anything to the public doesn't mean they never gave Best Buy a launch date.

There will be people who will have visibly aged by the time this phone finally gets released, showing up in line to get their Thunderbolt at Best Buy. Best Buy rep will say something to the effect of "Hey, didn't that guy have a full head of hair when he preordered the Thunderbolt a few weeks ago?"

And hasn't reviews of the inspire noted multiple glitches, most notably the hand off of 4g data. IF Verizon could prevent these glitches, would it be worth the wait? Essentially, Verizon seems to be a perfectionist. They take a long time to get upgrades out, but it is done right.

AT&T has shown a tendency to fly by the seat of their pants and push stuff out whether it's ready or not. Look at the release of their GSM network. The coverage was spotty at best. They took years of improving the network and it still isn't that great in a lot of areas that their map shows full coverage.

When you put it that way your right. Totally unacceptable on all 3 behaves HTC BestBuy n VZW.

Off Topic question (kind of). People have stated that they are #... in line for pre order. I asked at my BB and they said they have no way of knowing? How could I find this out?

I am just hoping it comes out before March 13th, thats when my return period is. I bought the droid X which I really wanted when it was launched! Now I am glad I stuck with my EVO for suck a long time!

I agree with everything that you have said. I appreciate taking your time and making sure you get the launch right especially since most of us will be locked into a long term contract upon purchase of this phone. My issue is them not at least letting the consumer know that you have a set date and if it gets pushed back then so be it. It happens. But that is bad business to announce a product and then take your customers and exclusive retail partner on a roller coaster ride and then hide behind a curtain of silence the entire time. From some of the earlier posts it looks like Best Buy isn't going to give any word on the device until they physically have the device on location just to avoid being jerked around any further.

The only problem I see with this is we don't know if the the others carriers have told anything to best buy and had it change. I don't understand what some people are thinking. Verizon has not stated a release date for it yet, just because someone in Best Buy leaked a document they shouldn't have doesn't mean Verizon should be held accountable.

I look at it this way, Verizon must have known something was up and that is why they didn't announce a public date yet. Everyone should blame Best buy, they said a date, not Verizon. If Verizon has made it public yet, then it is subject to change.

I realize it sucks waiting, I am wanting this phone too. But everyone just needs a little patience and it will be here in no time.

Again, Best Buy doesn't make the phones or service the data contracts. They're a 3rd party retailer so they would have to be told when a product is going to launch before they would start giving that information out to the consumers. Wirefly also originally posted a release date of 2/13. And even the dummy phones have the 2/14 date on them. These are not mom and pop shops we're talking about here these are Multi Million and even Billion dollar companies. There shouldn't be this much confusion about the launch date and now even capabilities of this phone. At CES they also announced The Samsung 4G, LG Revolution, and Droid Bionic. Is Best Buy giving out false dates and taking preorders on those phones? Are you seeing any commercials on TV and on the Internet hyping up their releases?

There was a reason vzw didnt want best buy to give away the release date for the 14th or the 24th. Crap happens and they knew that. If not for all the "source info" there would be fewer people angry now

I don't hold best buy corporate responsible just some of their employees.m

But why would Best Buy release an actual Ad showing the phone as available today if they weren't informed by Verizon of what the release date would be? It's a lot deeper than just a few Best Buy Mobile employees making up things to get pre order credit.

Exactly, Verizon didn't make it public because they probably knew it might not be out at the time they told Best Buy. None of us would even know anything about a release date if it wasn't for certain employees of Best Buy. So the only thing we should be complaining about is when it is coming out, not that it was delayed.

When Verizon is certain of a release, they will make the announcement, shouldn't expect the phone to come in when leaked images show when it is. This happens with OTAs as well, they have internal documents about when they are scheduled but until they either announce it or release it, they are subject to change.

But it was not just certain Best Buy employees that put out a nation wide ad showing the Thunderbolt as "New" and not coming soon. Best Buy had to get the date from somewhere in order to run todays ad. That type of ad is not something you run just because.

Think of the heat Best Buy is taking because they can not fill orders for something they have in there weekly ad. I called Best Buy's 888 number and asked about it and the rep I spoke to said he alone has taken about 30 calls today complaining about the ad.
