Highly Doubting 24th Release date

The 24th makes sense if they have a deal with apple about not releasing any dates for two weeks. They can't release the phone or the date until the 24th, thats why they have been advertising the hell out of it without a date. The xoom isnt a phone so they it wouldn't be part of that deal.

Makes sense and hopefully doesnt impact the HW. Btw judging by your UN you're Eris owner huh...dont worry I have one also.. :-(

I really do think it is software, I think VZW wants the Skype app on the phone at launch. We know for a fact (this is per Skype) that the app will not be released untill the 28th, so it would make sense for VZW to hold off on the release untill the 28th when they can launch with Skype as it was suppose to be.

Is Skype going to be just a downloadable app, or will it require some sort of system upgrade? With the features that have been shown such as including Skype in the phonebook, wouldn't that take more than just an app and widget? I guess I thought Skype would be a system update, not a market download.

From what Skype said it will be available as a market download starting Feb. 28th, however it is suppose to be integrated into the TB. My reasoning for it being the cause for the relese date is that VZW will have to wait for it to be ready so that they can include it in a system update.

So while the app will be available on the marketplace, it will not be integrated like it will be on the TB.
 
Am I the only one that was told the 26th? lol That's what the BB I pre-ordered from told me. They said it was going to be the 14th, then was pushed to the 21st and now is pushed again and looks like I can pick it up the 26th and they highly doubt it will get pushed back again.

Not saying it's true, just throwing that out there. If it's the 28th I won't get it in time for my trip and was counting on it as my access point =(.

I don't remember Verizon releasing a lot of phones on a Saturday.

True, I usually remember Thursday releases, but I figured Monday was going to be more likely than a Saturday. Just an opinion and no concrete information from me. Hopefully they release it on the 24th and we all get our new phone.

It is possible that they are not getting shipments until the 26th. It seems that there are stores out there that have product, but are waiting for the release. Your BBY may be still waiting on the phones and don't expect to get them until Saturday even though the official release might be Thursday.

Thanks for compiling that list, I had looked for something like that a few times. I honestly think it will be the 24th. Thursday makes the most sense and, among other reasons, has been acknowledged by VZW employees across the board today.

so i myself am also sick of vzw just poking around with us and what not but a question i have is that... i knw it has more ram then the bionic will have and while being compared to the TB the bionics software was supposedly not supporting the dual core processor... so now that there is speculation that android will be supporting dual cores will the bionic in the end be even faster than the TB?

I don't think CES having a working phone and allowing people to sign up for email alerts is keeping quiet. I also don't think the barage of ads linking to a new VZW page saying coming soon is keeping quiet. They haven't finished testing the device obviously so yea, big difference from the iPhone launch when the phone was already passed QC. They are creating Hype and having to hold up the device because of network and third party app issues. Just my 2 cents though.

Edit. And as I was typing this the new commercial from VZW just came on.... Coincidence, I think not lol
 
Thursday is looking good. Now, I have a stupid question that I didn't feel the necessity to make a whole separate post for. I was planning on ordering online using my checking account to avoid the whole rebate ordeal, but I see VZW has done away with them in-store for the most part now, too. I've always used my check card in the stores, but I'm waiting on a replacement card from the bank. (Usually takes like seven day) Do the VZW stores take checks? I mean, no biggie if they don't. I'd just have to run across town to the bank first.

The Incredible was released last year, Thurs April 29th. The phone was the talk of Forums, web sites, etc, for Months! All with out a word from vzw about a release. However, the device in tow with all it's marketing material didn't show up until the 28th, yes April 28th, A whopping day before its release. And guess what guys and girls....It was all a BIG surprise to the reps! They all had no idea, and the Managers ended up setting up all the marketing material and demo phones after the stores closed that Wed night. To only open the very next day Thurs (the 29th) an hour early for the release.

So this is all classic Verizon people! Its meant to hype and push the envelope, and were all playing right into it! Think about it, so many are getting nuts over a phone that is probably going to be laced with software issues at launch, for us to say...Why didn't vzw take more time to work out the kinks? Plus vzw never committed to a date. That was all false info from Best Buy, who by the way is famous for stretching the truth and talking out they're butts! Ease up people, when it gets here, it gets here...Simple as that!

First you are wrong about the inc they took preorders a week before so how exactly did they just drop it a day before release on reps????
