Gameloft games on Evo no wifi multiplayer option

Ok I'm getting a bit frustrated with Gameloft games. It seems on HTC Evo you do not have the option to play wifi (local network) mode under multiplayer. The only option is online. I have Modern Combat 2 and Golf 2 HD and neither have wifi option but my room mates Samsung Fascinate does. We want to play against each other. I dont understand how I can play online with any player across the world but can't play with someone on the same network I'm in because I have an HTC?

If I'm not mistake all HTC device do not have this option?

The local WiFi option most likely uses Ad-hoc and most Android devices do not have Ad-hoc.

Just tried this with that SHREK racing game too. I gots a MULTIPLAYER option but me brother, sister, and brother-in-law don't. I rock an OG DROID while they all just gots the HTC EVO SHIFT and HTC EVO. None of them had the option.:( Back to Word Feud for us.
