rooted help

hopla

Newbie
I'm running 2.1 and when I run Terminal Emulator to hide a few apps and I type su it says Permission Denied. Am I not rooted or what?!

did u open shell? is the superuser permissions app on your phone? droidroothelp.apk file? did you root or try to root? lol give us more details on what your trying to ultimately do.

I think I'll just go cry in a corner as I'm so lost...I thought I was rooted once I installed 2.1 since I had to root to get to this point. Btw Berry2Droid, everything you said lost me.

Just asking the basics i guess, what 2.1 do you have? HC or Greek35? I thought i was rooted as soon as i went to 2.1 but apparently thats not always the case with everyones 2.1 version.

I am also using 2.1HC (so, apparently I'm rooted) and would like to remove AmazonMP3 and Visual Voicemail. When I open terminal emulator and type su i get a permission denied error. Any help is appreciated.

Last weekend, I installed each version (Greek's and humancyborg's) of 2.1. In both cases I lost root. No biggie. Just simply adb push the su file back to /data/local ... then follow the rest of the rooting directions found in about a bazillion places on the internet. :D

If you're still lost after reading the above . . . maybe rooting isn't for you. Just sayin'...

I'm lost after that so are you saying that I cannot learn how to do it if I don't understand what you've written? Is it that difficult?

No, it is not difficult. The truth is, if I can do it, anyone can. But it seems to me that a lot of people don't want to take the time and read through the instructions and/or tutorials that are already available ... on this forum, and almost every other DROID forum.

I would like to add that these forums create just about as many problems as they solve. A lot of people that want to root their DROID don't even know what it means, or what they can do once they are rooted. And then they get themselves in a jam, and want us to wave a magic wand to make their bricked phone come back to life.

If you can't find your answers in THIS FORUM, I don't know where you will.
