BMX has stated that the release was suppose to be in March all along, however VZW wanted to try to release it earlier. March is next week, I would not expect the phone to be released much later then that. I don't think he meant that it would literally be on St. Patrick's Day, I think he was just trying to say March.

I agree, I think he is getting tired of all the people complaining about it being "delayed". His point is simple... He said in March (perhaps Mid-March) and any earlier you should be happy. Don't feel entitled to have it earlier.
 
Why dual core gold for the Bionic? Didn't Panda say Motorola has had a tough time optimizing software to achieve good battery life?

Plus, the Bionic is locked...

Sources are getting harder and harder to believe since everything keeps getting moved around. I won't believe a release date until I'm activating my TB.

Let's assume iphone sales (or lack thereof) are to blame for the Thunderbolt release confusion, it still doesn't make much sense to me for two reasons.

Reason 1: Even if I wanted an iphone on Verizon why would I get the iphone 4 now, knowing that the iphone 5 will be out this summer. Especially since the iphone is such a status symbol do you really want to be 4 months into a contract to see the successor come out?

Reason 2: If the iphone release was not what you were expecting in sales why would you hurt the possible release of another device? Especially since apparently Verizon just ponied up quite a bit of money to start marketing the device heavily. Unless they continue to do the same heavy marketing over the next couple of weeks they will have wasted their money early on since the majority of their customer base would've already lost interest. Let's face it, people on the forums are the minority that is all geeked up about the phone and will wait it out. But then again Verizon never has been too bright when it comes to marketing since I always get these huge packets in the mail trying to convince me to switch to FIOS... when I already have it!

Do not hold me to this, but I think I read somewhere that even if a new iPhone drops, it will not be with VZW. They will wait for a LTE version.

And that might be true which would hurt verizon even more on their iphone sales because most people I know always get the latest iphone as soon as it's released. In that case if I was on AT&T why would I switch to Verizon? Especially since AT&T coverage where I live is not that bad.
 
Ok so found this over on BMX's blog under his "Let's talk about the Thunderbolt "delay"" thread...

7. I never said the Network wasnt solid.. but a pure data device like a modem vs a dual mode device.. thats a different product and no one said the NETWORK was the issue.. U forget that ur using a new brand of CDMA, LTE and all types of unicorn farts to get this working.. MEH things break..

So there you have it, the reason the phone isn't ready is because there are not enough unicorn farts...

@ db I guess you missed x's statement saying the 24 was the targeted date per them trying to move the date up but that it may still miss it. Anywayz point was Miami did not get his info from the panda.

Nope. Didn't miss that either. Panda has maintained all along that VZW has been trying to push the date up but that they may or may not make it. I listen to both Miami and BMX (Been relying on Miami for info since the Incredible threads). My last post was in response to the post saying that Miami beat BMX to the March date ... which he didn't.

In that case u misunderstood my post.it was in response to op saying that Miami got his info from panda. He does not.
Miami deserves as much respect as bmx and perhaps more gratitude. He has done nothing but try to keep those interested up to par. It irks me when he gets ragged on for things that are out of his control. Such as release dates.
Edit: you know what? Im not even sure that bmx beat him to the march date for that matter. If you remember back last year when this device got pushed into 2011 Miami said february at the earliest march at the latest. Since then as the dates were trying to be pushed up he kept us up to par. That waslong before the poem.
