Best Buy Details

Yo Jay,

So, quick best buy question for ya.... I pre-ordered t-bolt, but am headed out of town this weekend and want to buy a droid x. What is the return policy like at best buy? would i forfeit my pre-order if i upgraded now? or, could i just return it when the t-bolt comes out and they honor the pre-order and still get extended contract pricing? any idea? thanks

You wouldn't forefit your preorder...it works like this.

After 14 Days - Locked into VZW
After 30 Days - Locked into the phone you bought

No restocking fee.

So, if I return the X after 14 days, I could still get the T-bolt for 299 or 249 whichever the extended contract price is? Or, I'd have to return it before 14 days to still get the cheap price of T-bolt? Sorry, hate to bother you with this

At Best Buy, you have 30 days to return for the contract price.

A mixture hahaha. I mean if the download speeds of 24mb/s are true. Thats 2 times faster than my DSL

If those speeds are true, or even close to true (lets say 12-14 mb/s) then there is no way in hell Verizon won't charge more for the data plan. That is way too much of an increase in speed over other carriers and they'd be stupid not to charge extra.

Keep in mind, they never offically stated any data plans and they look like they are already raising the price of the actual device. This is looking like a serious luxury item right now...:(

Just so I have this clear and caught up, and someone correct me if I'm wrong please. BB has the Thunderbolt in (what looks like to me) a full page ad for Sunday. However, they don't have it and don't know when they're getting it? Could be the 28th or could be Thursday March 4th (in what celestial year, I am unsure lol) which is in fact a Friday. And there are pics circulating from a WOW party that is supposedly (I say that because no one REALLY knows yet) a launch party of some sort for the TB. Am I caught up so far? LOL

I read somewhere that LTE is actually cheaper for verizon.. Go figure

i'm not going against a company like VZW releasing phones rigorously on Thursdays, but after the whole "delay" thing (arguments of release dates aside), don't you think when the stores get them they'll go ahead and push them to the floor (be it BB or VZW)? so even if this guy posting pics on AndroidCentral is saying release tentative for the 3rd/4th, then most stores will get them sooner (BB) and prob just push them immediately.
so i'm not fretting over waiting until the 3rd/4th--cos' this whole release date thing has already defied the logic of their previous releases.

i mean, yeah they've had a record of releasing phones on Thursdays, but they've also given release dates with other phones (few excluded) and seemed to fall into logic---whereas the TB is just a clusterfork of confusion to the consumer & release dates

just a thought.

Also the BB at concord mills know nothing about a release date so as soon as they get them I can go get one :D

EDIT:Maybe not. But thats what they said last night when I asked about a shipment

Thats right, because the LTE uses less towers to spread over a larger area leading to less spent costs on upgrading and maintaining all those towers

LTE can spread farther and even has the potential of being increased in speeds of up to 1GBp/s once its fully standardized, hence the name "Long Term Evolution"

The other facts here are, it can blanket the entire US if they spread the towers they activate with LTE the right pattern

like i said about 10 pages back, there are dead spots about 20miles from me after i cross the state line into Maryland, Hagerstown has NO Verizon coverage, its roaming teritory. so it only has 1X

when LTE gets fully launched, that dead spot will be GONE

also, the 700mhz frequency (Verizon's LTE) is able to travel faster (hence the 50% less latency)

and, the lower frequencies can travel through obstacles and thick building material alot better
so when your shopping and are inside a building, you can still make that call to find out what the misses wants from the grocery store

or if your there misses, you can still make that call about what to buy for your best friends bridal shower (just giving good examples lol) OR trying to anyway lol

Apple just made that even more confusing by naming there LightPeak port "ThunderBolt"

Apple and Intel unveil Thunderbolt I/O technology -- Engadget

edit: crap, sorry for the double post...

Also - the price looks to have risen $50. Still no data plan pricing.

The launch party could just as well be for the XOOM. I think that is even more likely than a party for the TB. The Xoom came out the next day. The TB could have just been there for sh*ts and giggles.

I did see that, awesome story by the way. Your an excellent writer. :)

Thanks, I majored in Communication in college with a focus in Public Relations, I was born for this stuff, lol.

PS: If you could, comment on the story, they're having a contest to see who can get the most comments and I'd win a bunch of cool stuff ;)

No matter - if it is better data speeds, they can charge more. The data pricing has very little to do with overhead costs, more to do with performance compared to competitors.

Can anyone else see the 1000% negativity in that post? or am I seeing things
