Help Froyo update bricked my phone

After the update, on the first restart it gets to the Galaxy S logo then the screen just turns black. Is there anyway to unbrick my phone?

this fixed it although i lost all my contacts...

My phone was having the EXACT same issue. I talked to Samsung support and they told me to reboot the phone while holding the volume up, volume down, and power buttons for 15 seconds as you power on. It will bring you to a admin screen. Choose "clear user data" (I lost my apps but not my contacts/media). Then choose to "reboot" the phone. I am now up and running Froyo... and beginning to reinstall all my apps.

You say you lost your contacts, was that local contacts or did it erase your GOOGLE contacts from the web?

i lost all my phonebook contacts along with some contacts on my sim. my google contacts (which isnt much) is still there, and suprisingly all my pictures and songs are still there too (although my playlists are deleted)
