Here's hoping the battery door's fixed

my sister got it off for me...my mom couldn't get it off and I was about to get a screw driver and my sister was like "I got it!"

I called the HTC Accessory hotline... I bought 2 Inspire 4G and both of the covers got a little scuffed up. I explained the situation and they overnighted me out 2 replacement covers.

They're aware of the issue, and for a part that costs pennies, they'll happily send out a replacement. Totally not necessary, considering if someone is careful when removing it won't damage it... so their willingness to replace it goes a long way in my book :-)

(PS - just for kicks I asked ATT and they said no replacement, they'd charge me if I wanted it replaced.... stupid ATT... so.... ATT=FAIL.... HTC=WIN)

Just be thankful you are not trying to replace the battery on an iphone..
Yes especially now that Apple is using Pentalobe screws. I special ordered the special tool and they're still nearly impossible to work with. Grrrrr. Apple's working overtime to turn their products into disposable appliances.

I had to replace my factory unlocked model and I looked at the bottom and saw the pentalobe screws and exclaimed "WTF!?!?!"

I swear Apple is doing all they can to drive customers to Android. I was an iPhone customer the last 3 models, and 2 weeks ago I switched over to Inspire 4G... OMG I see the light. I will NEVER go back to iphone after being exposed to the amazing features of Android

I'm platform neutral, since I work concurrently with a PC & Mac. After years of both I'm very familiar with Apple history. The way things are going now, I agree with you, Apples really mucking things up.

I've also had a huge number of smartphones on virtually all platforms and I've never been as excited with a mobile OS. The potential is staggering.

Yep, I'm the same way, I have a PC and a MAC, so I'm fairly unbiased, but I'm disappointed with recent Apple doings.

Where's that number?

Just a quick heads up, if you open the door between the volume rocker and the battery cover it'll pop right off rather easily.

There's like an area between the battery door and the volume rocker where you can stick your nail in. Just stick your nail in between the door and the volume rocker and it comes off really easily.

I also got a replacement for the battery door. I also mentioned that my sim/memory card door doesn't sit flush with the phone, the guy said they are also aware of that issue but that part is currently being shipped to them so to call back in a week or 2 and i can get it replaced then

My battery door isn't damaged, but my sim card door isn't flush on either side, like it sticks out on the sides, so I'm going to call them about it...

I called them and they said they don't have any currently, so I should call back later to see if they have any.
Also, is it just mine that's doing it? Or are all the Inspires doing it? Like on mine, If I slide my nail down the side of the phone, it catches on the sim card door cover.

yeah the sim card door they said would be available for replacement in 1-2 weeks.

On my sim card door its not the sides that are the problem the middle of my door pops up a little and i can feel it when i hold the phone and it annoys me.

The battery door is horrible design. Three coworkers with Inspires and all three of the volume rocker came off when trying to open door. We all are IT guys can open a computer case mo problem. I opened my battery vase cause phone froze didn't want to wait for reeboot. So sometimes as said need to open more than once.

That's strange. I have never had an issue with the battery door at all before. I just jam a finger nail underneath the cover next to the "-" sign next to the volume key. Pops off in a flash.

After prying around with it for about 6 months now, it is pretty loose to where if I drop it on a hard surface, 8/10 times it will pop off.

Kinda sucks, but then again, I try to keep a case on it now anyway, so I don't really have to worry about it.

I've got a rooted phone so I take the battery cover off to reset the phone whenever it freezes or bugs out. I remove it almost every day so by now it's not too loose, but not that hard to pop it off. I've got a case around it too so it doesn't unintentionally fall off.
