Video Quality (Video included)

Now try text messaging it to someone. The size of the video shrinks to a quarter of your screen size and on top of that the quality is terrible.

Also it seems you have to resize every picture and video you want to send in a text message.

Maybe I am doing something completely wrong, since this is my first Android device, (Coming from the Iphone 3GS) but the Iphone didn't have this problem with sending pics or videos through texts. You can imagine how frustrating this can be.

On top of the texting issues it seems the battery hasn't panned out that well for me. I have gone through 2 Atrix phones and 3 batteries and still the same problem with battery life.

It's a shame cause I truly love the Android OS over the Apple OS but it seems like the functionality just isn't there on this phone.

Any help to resolve these issues would be incredible. I've been all over these forums and tried everything I read to no avail.

I think the video quality is great as well. I shot some footage of a Pens Hockey Game off the my TV, and when I show it to my friends, they are amazed at the quality and clarity of the video.

i cant send this video as it's almost 1gb in size. i havent had issues sending picture messages.

I have the same problem. I can't send videos as it says they are too big. I even changed to VGA resolution and still can't do it. With the iPhone, everything just worked. It would automatically resize it and send it. What's the point of shooting a video if I have to use the lowest setting and can only shoot for 10 seconds so that I can MMS or email it to share?

In the UK so not got this yet, but I have never sent a video, only sent pictures as video is always to big so no problem with that, the picture quality is very good.

On the sounds, it is excellent, very good sound, unlike the tinny cheap sound on ALL HTC's. good work moto.

Yup, it doesn't make sense. As much as I text and share videos this is a really frustrating issue. Is this an Atrix only problem or is this how all Android devices are?

I am coming from an Iphone 3GS and I never had an issue with texting any size video. It seems like every time I try to send a video or picture text it has to resize it.

Aside from the texting issues, the battery is the other major problem I've been having with the phone. I am currently on my second Atrix and 3rd battery. I can't seem to get it to last a solid 12 hours. Not to mention, I hate feeling like I have to curtail my phone use. I never had this issue with the Iphone.

That being said I love the Android OS much more than the Apple OS, which makes returning this phone a difficult decision.

This is a sadly an Android issue so this is something that Google needs to update/fix.

go into settings > battery manager > battery mode. change it to maximum battery savery. this doubled my battery's life.

This sounds like a moto setting, what options (sync, brightness etc) are in the battery saver?

Yup, it's a moto setting. It auto controls brightness to a bit lower than it would otherwise. It auto kills apps that are inactive for 15 mins, not sure if it affects the sync or not.

Not sure if I like the idea of a task killer in the feature :/ Are there any stock apps that 'auto start'?

Just rebooted my phone and waited 10 mins to check. Market, music, maps, gmail, browser are all running without me activating them.

These were auto kill every 15 minutes if they are inactive? From my understanding of Android, killing these apps use up much more resource. They are programed to auto start again if closed, so it takes more power to start it from scratch instead of waking it up from sleep. It's stupid to kill apps like Market and gmail, which are sync at certain interval so it's better that those apps go to sleep when not being used. If you have widgets for Music and Navigation, then killing it will only make it wake up (that's the only reason I can think of). I would think Moto would understand how Android work...this seems like a big oversight on their part.
