If I wanted to get a tablet...specifically an iPad...

Do I need to sign up for service for AT&T or verizon or can I just use my Evo to USB tether and:

A) Surf the net
B) Text
C) Download apps from the app store on the iPad

Essentially get full functionality of the iPad but using my Evo to power the web on it when not in a free WiFi area, as well as have access to iTunes to download moves onto the tablet.

I really don't want the iPad simply because it lacks FLASH, but it's just the best tablet out there. Or, after you finish flaming me, maybe someone can point me in the direction of an equally performing tablet as an alternative? The key here is using my beloved Evo as a tethered source of 3G/4G internet access int he absence of WiFi.

Thanks!

There is no USB port on an iPad, you're gonna have to root the Evo and use Wireless Tether.

Also, the Xoom looks like it's going to be the iPad killer. Finally a 10"+ Android with Honeycomb and a duel core processor. Problem is... it's $800 without contract :(

Here's hoping it gets some Android competition soon!
