Wanting to keep this on topic, however I think one thing needs to be pointed out here. The Thunderbolt will NOT be launching with Icecream! It might launch with Gingerbread, but Icecream is right out.

Any new update to the Google OS will be released to AOSP before it comes out to any phone. Since there is no Icecream in AOSP yet then there is no chance that it will be on the TB. This is controled by Google not the phone manufactures.

Just wanted to clear that little rumor that was poping up earlier in this thread about the speculation of what the new specs might be.

We now return you to your regularly schedualed "When the heck is it coming to BB JAY!!!" thread...

:)

Jay,
you realize--if you were to count the individual users/posters in this forum thread--that # would thank you in a single "the device is here" post that you (hopefully soon) publish..

new AndroidForum record? i think so.

Unless google releases Ice Cream to AOSP/SDK a few days before. Remember, we are likely to still have 8 days til launch.

P.S. : For the record I don't think it's coming with Ice Cream.

I just want to dismiss any rumors of Ice Cream based off the fact that Google is only releasing new versions every 6 months. The fact that GB just came out means that we won't see Ice Cream until later this year. And for those that think 2.4 is Ice Cream, it's not. It's still going to be considered GB just like 2.0 and 2.1 were Eclair.

Agree, however if past experience is anything to go by Google releases the code to AOSP/SDK months before anyone sees it on a phone.

Please attack the issue and not each other or other posters.

And off the top of my head, the most-thanked I've seen for a user is 205 in a single post ;).

edit and ps - np, our pleasure. :)

Lol, if we have the phone by then you'll be happy?

Honestly, I will be. When I called Verizon today about an issue with a promo on my bill I casually asked the lady about the new "thunder" phone I saw on TV.

Verbatim reply: "Oh yes - that phone is going to be pretty big - bigger than the iPhone 4G we released (WTF 4G?). It should be out by the end of the summer."

Really Verizon?? Really??! This is who you have representing you?! lol :P

Arghhh, that's crazy.

FYI - Not that anyone cares, but while I L O V E D the Evo, Sprint's network still isn't up to par with Verizon's, as reception at my desk at work was really bad, and I noticed alot of 'data' errors on the phone. Anyways, it was a painless diversion from waiting for the Thunderbolt.

I learned 2 things: If the T-Bolt is even half the phone that the Evo is, I CAN'T WAIT; and while Sprint's network has improved, it's still not as good as Verizon's.

I didn't research the camera on the T-Bolt, but someone at work told me it's not as good as the Evo's...is that right?

Well Apple has the iPad2 shipping starting March 11th including from Verizon, so hope that doesn't mess with dates for TBolt and VZW Apple love.

Ya know, I can't help but wonder...I mean, I have no real proof, but I can't help but think that there is something weird holding this thing up. I trust BMX enough to believe the phone is ready. I believe Jay's BB was obviously given information about its release, yet we have no phone. I'm not trying to spread any rumors or whatever (I guess I'm just bored on my break at work) but I keep feeling like there's some silly hold up like waiting out a contractual obligation or some strategic placement of the release in between other devices or other phones. I totally don't know enough about the business to really have a clue, but I feel like all we need now is the rubber stamping to let this thing fly. Who knows?

I dont think it should interfere. Two different markets here...phone and tablet. Motorola should be pissed though. Wonder when BB will have it.

I totally agree with what you are saying, but you are speaking rationally and I'm not convinced these days that VZW/BB/HTC are working like that. ;)

All jokes aside, I am concerned that while they are targeting different markets, I'm worried that VZW may want ALL of the limelight on this release. Again, I'm just so uncertain about what the hold-up is.
