This is the WORST phone ever!!!

WOW. This is by far the worst android phone I have and will ever use in my life. It's slower than my old 333Mhz blackberry. 800Mhz?? I don't think thats accurate at all. Also, the battery life is sh*t for having a 1500mAH battery. And yes, I know how to use Android and kill tasks. Beware everyone that is thinking about getting this phone, it's worthless! And, the pathetic screen res wont even allow it to use the almighty glorious SWYPE without going through hell every 3 months to get it. In summation, WORST PHONE EVER!

Yeah, I'm just waiting for Froyo at the end of the month. According to just about everyone, including you, it's a massive improvement.

Yeah I'm not going to mess anything up and flash roms or whatever when 2.2 is coming out soon. I have very little issues with the phone so far so yeah I'm not in any hurry.

I had some issues, but uninstalled a lot of junk and love the phone again. I am looking forward to 2.2, but can wait.

I love it when people start screaming "BAD PHONE."
The phone is not bad at all, just a low end phone with a lot of apps and features on by default.
Hundreds of free apps that can help clean out your phone and keep it clean.
Take care of your phone and it will take care of you, treat it like crap and it will run like crap.

What apps do you recommend for cleaning out your phone?

its not the BEST droid phone on the market. hell, not even the best when it comes to the prepaid carriers. but the pros FAR outweigh the cons in my opinion. yea its a lil slow, but its negligible. i like the physical keyboard, the hardware talk and end buttons. decent lil phone for 25 a month.

and with 2.2 coming ever so shortly, it will be elevated to an awesome phone.

Worst phone I have ever owned in my life. Battery lasts about 2 hours max on a good day. That's with normal use and wifi off. This is the 3rd Intercept I have exchanged and they are all terrible.

Very slow processor and very unresponsive. Locks up constantly and has to be rebooted. This phone shouldn't even be considered a smart phone or in the category with other droids. It is pretty sad when you have to recharge your phone every 2 hours throughout the day just to use it.

I have owned $7.00 cell phones that worked better than the Intercept. Also I can't count how many times this phone has just turned itself off in the middle of a call with a full battery. All 3 of my Intercepts have done that, so I know it's a common problem with this phone and not just the one that I own.

Sometimes you have to push a button 3 or 4 times before it responds. When you slide or drag the window there is always a delay and it stops constantly. This phone has the worst internal storage and memory around. At least half of the apps from the Droid market malfunction on this phone. On a normal day this phone will freeze up on me anywhere from 5-15 times, to the point that I have to open the back to take the battery out before I can restart.

I really wanted to like this phone, but as it turns out, it's by far the worst phone I've ever used. To say it is frustrating is an understatement. The problem is its poor response. Frequently during daily use it is unresponsive. Especially after a phone call. It might take up to twenty seconds for the controls to respond. This is not acceptable!

I am a certified computer technician. I work on and repair all makes and models of computers. I embrace technology and understand it. But I will never understand this phone! I have no interest in "rooting" it either. It should just work....but it does not. And please don't tell me I have "too many programs installed." I don't have any. In fact, I've done a hard reset on this phone-twice-running only the factory installed programs and STILL it is totally unresponsive.

I also find no correlation between what is running in the background and how the phone behaves. Every time I use the device I clear out whatever programs I'm not using at the moment. But it seems this does not make a difference. The phone has a mind of its own and it will behave any way it wants to, RAM or no RAM

If you go to cnet reviews you will see that over 80% of all the genuine reviews for this phone have 1 star or less. Samsung should be sued and should be put out of business for passing off a phone as bad as this to the consumer. BUYER BEWARE: If you do buy this phone it only comes with a 30 day warranty and everything will work great until the second month you own it........TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT

I regret buying this phone. But I'll keep it until my carrier comes out with another model that I like, then I'm gonna just trash the Intercept. I don't have the heart to sell it to someone else."

Pros: makes a good paperweight.

I suffered the same issue, major lag. Non responsive. Random Reboots, then i rooted it.... now the thing flys. I got cachemate, Wifi tethering...everything. A completely better phone and very very useful now.

@tsh85 I feel you on the some of that. I've had horrendous days and good days with this phone. I'm curious if you're going to try the LG Optimus and I wonder if you do, could you share some feedback on that model? It's less expensive which makes me wonder if it's any better than the Intercept (at least for me...you are obviously done with the Intercept).

Hmmmm. I agree with the lag.

I've never experienced a turn off.

My phone has been on for about 8 hours now. Got several emails, a few texts, a little surfing, and used a few apps. Battery is at 50%. Still not great, not nowhere near your 2 hour battery time.

I hope Virgin gets more Android phones at $25 a month. It's a great deal if they can get a phone that more people are happy with.

I get the feeling the people who are complaining about this phone knew what they were getting into but were ultimately too cheap to spring for the caliber of device they actually felt they needed/wanted. This is a budget smartphone. As someone who has never owned a smartphone (only played with other people's), this phone is completely adequate. If I had a driving need to get a fast, ritzy phone people would be impressed with, I would have plopped down the money for another service and a better phone. But I'm not a person who uses my phone 24/7. I don't care if it can run freaking Angry Birds fast or not. I'm just someone who wanted a mid-range upgrade, and this is a great phone for me.

Yes, it is slow, compared to other smartphones. If you already have experience with other phones and have a higher standard, why did you buy a budget phone? Clearly some of you aren't just "reviewing" it out of curiosity, or there wouldn't be such ridiculous levels of anger.

I read the reviews beforehand and they were so bad that I was scared--thank god the reviews were exaggerations by spoiled tech brats, because I was pleasantly surprised that the Intercept is exactly what I expected of it: A mid-range, completely usable phone.

Surely this phone is not an i-phone or EVO or Epic or Galaxy. However, one pays more for high end phone with high monthly service fee is like an extortion. For 25 USD per month, Samsung Intercept gives us unlimited SMS/MMS/Data and limited talk time (Talk is overrated anyways - Stop talking and start networking). I am happy that I bought this phone. After Android 2.2 update (Froyo) this phone will be even more awesome! Tihis phone does all functions for me - e-mail, SMS, MMS, Music, Videos, Facebook, Photos, Calendar, Navigation, Documents, Radio and much more 24x7 with no worry for extra data charges. Online reviews for this phone can be ignored and one can only get to know this phone better if one actually uses it for sometime.

One does not need to reboot the phone if it locks up. Simply press the End Call/Power button once and it brings up the screen. Then slide the lock button up to unlock the phone.

One may also increase the screen timeout. However, it will consume more battery.

Battery can be saved by turning off wi-fi, GPS, Sync, Haptic feedback, Bluetooth when not needed. One can use Go Launcher Ex Home replacement App to find out what Apps are running and close the not needed one gracefully. Decrease screen brightness. Reduce keyboard timeout period. Apps like Music player, Navigation, Youtube, Radio, etc. consume more battery. Turn off e-mail, facebook, twitter background sync to save battery.

Also, Android Assistant App helps to boost memory and clean up cache.
