Thunderbolt Launch Day Speculation/Rumor Thread

You have waited this long, wait a tad longer, before you make a choice you will regret. DX is fine if you like Blur, if ur in a LTE market, not sure why your willing to settle for a lower end out dated phone already?

for those wondering yes i refuse to use the term 4G its not 4g its just LTE at best or 3.5G

Well ITU-R who writes the 4G standard has updated the standard to include LTE in the list of official 4G networks. ITU-R Newsroom Press Release

Geneva, 21 October 2010

8 hours with 30 percent left is not meh..

As I predicted from the Evo Shift - great savings on the newer gen silicon, then take a little back for the bigger screen.

And - no one tunes an HTC for proper battery behavior in the first day or two of ownership, in my experience.

So - not too bad so far, imo.

unless i misunderstood something, he's not stressing it too much. again, he's not using 4g either.

We don't know how the LTE radio consumes power - it might not be as thirsty as that in the Evo, for example.

Wifi is blazing fast - and it chews less power than 3G.

Could be a prince or could be a frog on LTE - too soon, I think, to call.

He gave an impression that the SIM card was the holdup - he didn't know that, so that's how that rumor started.

According to PhoneArena.com, the dimensions and weight are on par with the Evo - but HTC's site hasn't confirmed those specs. So - the idea that it might be huge compared to an Evo might or might not be true.

He didn't like the camera - no HTC camera works well with the stock settings, they do benefit greatly from setup changes from default.

He didn't answer if the kickstand was aluminum - the Evo kickstand was specifically non-magnetic to avoid antenna interference - assume same for the Bolt.

The Evo has a hidden, second LED under the grill that's not used, but was unleashed by an XDA dev. It was originally for 4G - he's not in a 4G area, so the Bolt might have that second LED.

The Evo's LED responds to Handcent options for color notifications - can't imagine HTC changing that circuit for any reason.

That's it for my 2 cents. :)

The kickstand he answered, he said it was metal and was thicker and stronger than the one on the EVO, which makes sense since its larger

I never knew about the second LED on the EVO

my TP2 had a second LED, one was for Notifications and the other was for the charging status.

does that second LED change colors (besides green/orange) I know on the Droid X it can be changed to Blue :(

Right. Maybe I'm being too critical.

Hahaha I took the day off from the theme (well the afternoon and night really, I spent all last night and this morning making sure id fixed the issue from yesterdays update lol) and I keep an eye on here because im gonna get the bolt in april. I live outside of dc (4G area) and work outside of baltimore (another 4G area) and my girl has my old storm1 which is about to crap out on her. So im gonna get the bolt and she's going to take my X. I just can't take the locked bootloader crap anymore lol
So yeah long story short, themes still being polished and ill be going to the bolt eventually lol.
Good to see ya in here too though lol

I just received a phone call from 505-999-5100 which is VZW, advising me there is no official release date for the TB. have NO clue why i got this call. and why tonight of all reasons, but this is a real VZW number ALBUQURQUE, NM.

again no clue why i got this call. i haven't called VZW or complained to them about this.

They read your posts. They were concerned

Did they at least manage to talk you down from the ledge?

i let him give his spell and laid into him. he starting telling any dates were from others. So i asked how BB got the green light to pre sale, he stumbled. no answers, then said they chose it on their own. we know that is not true, they got the green light from VZW. He said all VZW said was it would be out by the end of the 1st qtr and they had till end of March for that, i asked about the statement of a mid feb launch he had no answer. he then said well sir have a good night.

lol was the strangest call i have ever had from vzw.

All he did was finger point away from VZW, im really confused on how and why they called me.

Actually, you are right, but you bolded the wrong line... LTE Advanced is different than Verizon's LTE. The actual quote is:
That basically means that while not "really" 4G..they are recognizing that LTE, WiMax, and HSPDA+ can be called 4G because they are substantially better than 3G.

Apologies... I didn't mean to imply that VZW's LTE was the same as LTE Advanced. I merely grabbed the first few lines in the press release to give people a flavor of the change. Thanks for clarifying.

I once got 1 day, 19hrs on a single charge on my Dinc with moderate usage. This was after debloating, screen around 30%. I'm thinking if he can get through an 8 hour day with battery left over, he could probably get to about 12 hours. A little tweaking should get it to 16.

They are always hiring! Has nothing to do with the Bolt.

My location says New Mexico, USA and Jeramy noted Albuquerque in caps - so I just thought I'd help fill in the info as to why a call would come from Albuquerque, that is, Verizon has a rather large call center there.

If I were posting something off-topic it would be that Microsoft started in Albuquerque when the granddaddy of what's considered the modern PC was invented there or something fun like that. Because otherwise people might think Albuquerque is a lower-tech place, when it's not. Those would be fun facts not related to the Bolt. ;) :)
