If yes, Are you running a custom rom or are you stock? I'm starting to think Metro is messing up their own service, Be it knowingly or not. I believe this might be an issue since they've got 4G service now. Do you think this could be effecting it? Also...(Look below)

Lol. When I had Icarus that was happening to me and I'm on Cricket. So metro users are not alone

I have a cricKet Ascend and I'm running stock 2.1 update 1 (or whatever the hell it says) and yes I have rooted it and changed some things (like using LauncherPro Plus instead of Canvas etc.) but I've had no issues with losing data randomly.

I've been very tempted to try Icarus 1.1 but I'm waiting for the official 2.2 but jeez it just seems to get pushed back again and again and again and again and ...

Even if you do decide to get Icarus, You should make a back up of your current rom. Then that way if you really wanted to you could revert back. No harm done right? I also found that by putting on Airplane mode for a few seconds then turning it off, It gets it going again. When I was stock my data would not turn back on with this method. Guess that's another plus of Icarus.

After much cajoling and babble talk i got a metro Rep to admit that they are in fact having black outs because of maintenance.
My brothers optimus was doing the same thing.
I KNEW IT WAS METRO. Pfft, I knew it wasn't the Icarus rom or my phone. If it works one minute, Then not the next it's usually the fault of the service provider. Things don't just randomly "Stop working" for me. Especially if I never changed any settings!

Its definatly Metro's fault, my Ascend didn't have any data connection since 6-8 pm last night. Neither did my parents NONE-ANDROID LG & Samsung phones, so i suspect it must be Metro.

Thanks. I suppose maybe this data we are losing, It's not quite random. I still think that this "Maintenance" black outs by Metro, Actually have something to do with the their 4G service. I believe they are having issues with this somehow though, I'm not completely sure. I do know that in my area we are planning to get 4G. Though if people are losing data in other places besides here...Does Metro even have their own towers? I'd once heard they use other carriers towers. If so, Could this coverage of 4G actually be causing instability in their 1x service somehow? I'd love it if someone knew more about that type of thing. ^^.

If they are in the process of converting the towers to 4g in your area, that is probably the problem. They probably have to turn things off to install new equipment, etc. How do I check out your picture album?

Yes I believe Metro has their own towers. We've had 4G in Orlando for a couple months now but they are expanding so that may be why we're having black outs.

That is what I thought too. They've never had this problem before. Just now that they are making their 4G coverage area larger. Hopefully it gets settled soon. I already hate only having 1x but, When that 1x isn't working, It's even worse!
