What features do you want on the Evo 2?

Right, I know about that kind of stuff. I'm trying to replace the computer though. I am thinking something like this:
REDFLY - Companion
and this:
REDFLY - Mobiledock

Something cheap that will let my phone actually replace my computer. But also wireless, using a standard bluetooth protocol so I can use it with any future phone too.

And to take it a step further, I think when your phone connects to the dock, it should automatically switch to Google Chrome OS.

So then you no longer need a laptop. And when you buy a new phone it upgrades your "laptop" at the same time.

Same thing with the glasses. They would need to wirelessly connect to the phone, not a computer (and would require a ring with a couple buttons and built in accelerometer/motion sensor that could function as a mouse).
 
Sheesh, BlackDynamite - think creatively. With recognition software, you forget that ring and use your eyebrows - that'd give left and right click, and bobbing both could be used for select. ;)

Seriously tho - you're back to the wearable computing of a decade ago - don't know if you're familiar that one...

Tho as it evolved, things like the OQO was a good basis for that - an Evo 2 would be much better.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the wearable computers. In fact, I remember one from a couple years ago that was actually pretty decent (I remember it being demoed by some chick in a hard hat).

I'm trying to avoid the computer part of it though. I think an Evo 2 (and any high end smartphone going forward) should have the horsepower to replace my netbook. All I need is the input and output to be up to par with a netbook/laptop and we could even take it a step further and make it run Google Chrome OS when in "laptop" mode (the Atrix runs something called Webtop when in laptop mode).

The glasses with ring mouse (and lets add a qwerty watch while we're at it) would just be an easy way to multitask. Like if I'm at a baseball game and trying to simultaneously work on an email for my boss that includes reports, charts, etc. Or heck, if I am at work and want to read this thread without using the company's internet connection, and without being obvious when I do it on my phone.

So I would have to still be able to see out of the glasses even when the display inside them is on. Maybe the display could be configured so it is only on 1 side if you want, or transparent, or something like that.

And the glasses themselves would have to look less freakish. Make them look like a new pair of Oakleys or Ray Bans or something.

I learned quite a bit from the user comments - I'd not heard of this.

It's not free or even cheap - 40 smacker first year, 20 thereafter, or 80 clams for lifetime - plus your other fees, such as Netflix.

But, the whole thing totally cracked me up, because I always love the "Where there's a will, there's a way" solutions. :)
