What features do you want on the Evo 2?

ability to do full hdmi out to a tv/monitor..
and bluetooth keyboard and mouse....

so simple and would be awesome and mind blowing.

That would be cool, but not as cool as having an actual desktop/laptop/home theater mode like the Atrix.

Imagine if it had the desktop mode running Google Chrome, with the option to display the phone screen- like the Atrix but Chrome instead of Firefox.

That would be pretty awesome.

^^^ why stop there...

pin it to your shirt... and all you have to do is touch it, to activate... and works off of voice command... project the image infront of you in 3D.

and then ask to be transported/beemed up to the "starship"

:)

Well having a 3D phone is a given at this point. So I was just saying if it had a projector like the poster wanted (and previous phones have), 3D would be cool. And it is totally possible, you can buy 3D projectors right now:

Exactly...That's how featured get added. JFK didn't say "Yea, right" when NASA talked about going to the moon...

All right here is my EVO 2 wish list.

HD Radio
1080p recording.
DTV tuner
12mp camera with optical zoom.
Super Amoled screen with Higher res display
DLNA
32gb of internal storage
1gb or rom and ram
1.5ghz dual core processor
Nano cell battery (wishful thinking)
Solid aluminum casing
built in laser pointer.
gorilla glass screen
Gingerbread
HDMI out with 8.1 surround sound support.

You mean like this one? We could only pray for a battery like that and there would be a massive market for these in smart phones if someone would make them. I know damn well I would buy one if the charts are true and If Im reading them right. Make the battery 2200 mah so we last longer than we currently do.

^^^ i am no super tech or electrician...

but.. 1 min to 80% and a few more to get full...

there is only a so much "power" that can be pushed through the normal household outlet?

5 mins worth of plug-in time can not grab enough juice to power a cell phone for what we are used to.

can someone educate me?

It's about lowering the time to move chemicals around.

If indeed you think of it as pushing a rock uphill, then to move it up faster, you need more power.

Or - using the same power, you can get the rock uphill faster if the rock is lighter.

Note the last paragraph - the issue with the tech advances in this area haven't been so much foot-dragging as logistics: lowered lifetime and potential to catastrophically fail during charging.

But - they're working on other means to get this same result by turning away from Li-ion, so I'm hopeful.

I was looking through the whole thread and saw you mentioning the Li-air batteries. Interesting stuff. Lets say someone crammed one in an Evo and it was the same size as the stock battery, how long do you think that battery would last?

Did you happen to notice the fact that this is from 2005?

You are comparing milliamps to 20 amps (standard household circuit). You can indeed get the required amount of juice to charge a battery that quick. In fact, there are flashlights on the market that will charge from dead to 100% in 90 seconds from a 12 volt source and have a 2 hour runtime at 200 lumens.

^^^ wow really?? 90sec?

i guess my way of thinking must be completely off.

i guess the outlet is a bigger faucet than I thought... rethinking it..
you can run a nightlight to a 70" tv and sound system off it.

i stand corrected.

Honestly, I couldn't say, but the target for 1 to 2 mAh is well-known, so one would hope they'd shoot for that.

There are also breakthrus in hydrogen-based power cells that might free the user from the silly requirement of managing hydrogen and waste water.

Did you happen to notice the fact that this is from 2005?

I did, that's why I posted the 2009 article - it's not that it went nowhere or got buried - it's that it's not seeming to be practical at this point.

On the flip side (I know I've mentioned it, just not sure if in this thread) is the need to reduce power consumption. I'm still hoping for transreflective displays (I know I've mentioned that one) and the ever-popular carbon-nanotubes to the rescue, both for batteries and their targets -

Well guys, this thread will be obsolete in a week. Next Tuesday we will know what the next Evo is. Then we can start a thread on how we can possibly get it at new customer price when we all just bought our Evos a year ago, lol.

so...I confirmed two things today in my dealings with sprint....there is an evo2 and there IS an announcement coming on the 22nd.

That is all I could get out of everyone. Other than when I threatened to leave sprint today a supervisor at the call center said "oh just wait till you see the evo 2...it will blow your mind"

Store team seemed to think the announcement next week may just be the new windows phone (basically the shift...but windows) All of them were equally let down by the Zio announcement and not really looking forward to it's release this week.

I'm so amped for CTIA. It's going to be alot of fun starting new threads about the next EVO. Too bad most of us EVO owners are not eligible for the upgrade. Thanks to that new policy lol. It all depends. If this next EVO blows everything away spec wise.....I'm willing to fork over the cash for the early upgrade lol.
