Help Using the native email app w/my company's Google apps email

Sorry if this has already been discussed and resolved. I haven't been able to find anything.

My company uses Google Apps for email, calendar, etc...I tried to set my work email up in the native email app on my Captivate months ago. It took a minute but I got it set up right. The problem is that it's syncing the inbox from oldest first and only 25 at a time. So emails from January 2010 (when I joined the company) are syncing, but not emails I got, say, YESTERDAY. I've check the settings and the (very limited) menu options. No luck...what gives?

Yipe.. that could take forever.

I'd go into my Gmail account (or whatever email account you're referring to) online with my computer and start placing old emails in special folders not to be synced.

Im a google apps user, and I had the same issue. I just downloaded the gmail app instead of the native. all my problems were solved.

Thanks for the tip, but I already have many filters/folders set up for my various clients. I'm not sure setting up a new one would resolve this for me.

I actually tried that as well when the issue first presented. I already use the gmail app for my personal gmail account, so I figured I could just add another account (my work email) through the gmail app. However, for some reason, when I try to connect to the server, it always times/errors out - can't recall the exact error, but it basically says it can't connect.

Check this thread for the fix to the server connection problem:

The thread is about software updates, but it fixed my gmail account problem as well.

Just a quick update in case anyone stumbles across this. I ended up having to do a factory reset on the phone because it stopped connecting to wireless networks. After getting everything back in order, I went and set my work email back up in the native email app and it works perfectly!
