2.1 Seen with Flash Beta! Flash coming for droid sooner than we think??

I'm not sure what they are called, but when someone sends a MMS with like santa mooning everyone or something mine don't move every other phone I had has done it but not this one darnit.

I want it. Too many sites use it to function correctly and unfortunately it's not getting any better. What they can do is allow us to selectively choose which flash elements to run. So rather than it loading up automatically, they could just have the ? or flash icon which the user can click on and run if he/she chooses.... something like how plugins used to work in the old days.

I'd want to install an ad block plugin for the browser, similar to the ones available for Firefox now, so the phone doesn't have extra lag from the annoying banner ads. Overall, I'm not a fan of flash because of the way it is usually implemented, but it can be a good thing if we have some control over its use. I'm looking forward to using it and experimenting with it, and showing it off to my bass player who is an Apple fanboy. :D

I would bet on that there will be a turn flash on or off option within the tool. Fennex - Firefox's mobile browser which is coming to Android - has been confirmed to have plugins like the desktop browser. Ad-Blocker and No-script for the mobile browsers will be nice welcome additions.

don't forget that flash was demoed on the Droid several times, too. here's one example (@1:00):

YouTube - Flash Player 10.1 for Mobile devices, Smartphones and Netbooks

you can tell it's the Droid (rather than N1, for example) because of the aspect ratio and resolution of the screen. there was another video where it was more obvious, but i can't find it now.

flash won't come with 2.1, but i believe it will come simultaneously for Droid and N1. adobe is just using the N1 launch to once again bring attention to the fact that they are finally (and way too late, IMO) putting flash on mobile devices...

That would be so cool, it means I could watch Hulu and probably use my slingbox on it

They already released Fennec on Nokia Maemo devices and it seems like ANdroid is next!

What's sad is that w/ Skyfire I could view any flash site on my old WinMo phone, and it worked pretty well. Even Hulu. I'm kinda surprised the Skyfire team hasn't ported it to Android.

i used skyfire on winmo, too...the flash support definitely was nice, and it was my default web browser, but everything else about it was pretty lacking. in particular, since everything was streamed, it sucked down the battery.

Excitings times lay ahead. Flash brings a whole nother Dev platform and with it an army of coders tired of writing banner ads.

as mentioned by others: I hate the fact that all the advertisements slow down my laptop. I hate to see what it does for a mobile device.
flash will bring a lot of capabilities to our phones, but it will also bring all them annoying geico or other adds that slows down performance. And since advertisements are probably going to be the driving force to allow adobe to release it for free you are going to have to take the good with the bad.
If adobe will offer an option where you can block ads I will pay for it.

So many sites use flash/flex now, it will seriously increase the number of sites the android phones will be able to browse. Flash is becoming a large medium for delivering video as well, so we'll be able to watch a lot more streaming video.

The flash ad thing may be a pain, but the other benefits will outweigh that in my opinion.

I can't wait for flash to be available.

And it will make more enjoyable knowing that no iphones can browse them.

i agree the benefits will outweigh the negatives, but how many times have you wanted to yell _______ (insert company) for putting some add that slows down your computer until it loads. I dont want to turn off flash i would like to just toggle off the ads.....

well soon enough firefox mobile will also be coming out with add ons and shoudl be able to get blockscript of plugins liek that that will also block out any unwanted ads or flash parts of a page

thatll be good.
man another reason im glad i ditch the iphone for droid..FLASH PLAYER..... I want to hurry up, but i rather they take the time to get it right dont want to get all excited and have my droid fc everytime i use the flash.

I am surprised that some one with a rooted phone hasn't posted that they figured out how to take the beta version released to the public, and hack their droid so that it can use it. Come on you geniuses I have high expectations for you :D.

Heres a video I found of flash being demoed on the droid and it sounds like its almost complete because he mentioned it has the "full flash player 10 working on it."

I hope it is capable of playing good flash games especially with the use of the keyboard.

Moto had their CES Presser today. They confirmed 2.1 coming to All moto android handsets...they also confirmed flash 10.1 is not only coming to Droid, but is also in fact OPTIMIZED for Droid! No date was given, but they also confirmed it will be sent in a Droid update ota. I will find their Booth tomorrow and try to bug them for more info. Note above info was from engadget who attended the Presser, I wasn't there.

was going to post the question on a new thread but we probably have enough flash player thread.
If you use dolphin browser and change the setting to desktop and access the adobe sight you can download the flash media player package. I have in in my cache now, have any one figured away to convert or modify it for the droid. (I know the file is not meant for the droid.) Thanks.

well anyone could download the file and put it on there SD card any number of ways, but the fact of the matter is that it is not built for mobile processor architecture or mobile software. that would be like going on a mac and saying " well i can download the windows version does that meen i can install it?" not trying to be mean just trying to explain.

No offense taken, but you are right in that sense.
