Air Attack HD full game now on market!

The lite version is now called Part I.

The full version is simply called Air Attack HD. I'm going to buy this for the xoom as soon as i get home.

Part 2 is for Samsung phones only

I unfortunately just went and bought the game for my Galaxy S on the web based Android Market and ended up with a game that would not work and could not be refunded.

While I'm definitely at fault for not reading about the game. The developer has just done everything wrong with this launch. My main issue is I shouldn't have been able to buy it at all for my Samsung phone, it should have been blocked like any other game that doesn't work.

Also 3 version on the Market, why not just one version with a small download and then when you launch the game, the remainder is downloaded to your storage card.

*buys PC software without looking at system requirements clearly posted on side of the box*

*game fails to run on PC that does not meet system requirements*

That darn developer screwed me big time. They shouldn't sell software that doesn't work with my PC. Time to write on my blog about how much they suck.

That's just stupid dude and not relevant whatsoever.

My points are completely valid. If it's not compatible with the Galaxy S, then make it so it can't be purchased. It can be done, just try to buy a game designed for Tegra with another device and it will not allow you to purchase it.

It also makes a lot more sense to release one game on the market. Once downloaded it runs and downloads the rest of the data. The issue with Galaxy S is the 30MB limit, not an incompatibility with the game. It's beneficial to the users and the developer to just have one version. Much more likely that their game gets on the top ten selling list.

Ignoring the buying the wrong version. It's still sloppy work on the developer to release multiple versions. With the full version you get all eight levels together, part 1 has three and part 2 has five. Any upgrades to your ship you buy through the game continues from level to level. When I play the first three levels in part 1 none of the customization carriers over to part 2. Not exactly a well thought out solution.

Sorry Daveloft, hard to sympathize with you here. Too many people just download games without reading the product description. I don't think it is fair to criticize a developer who warned you ahead of time not to download his product.

While I agree that developers should "hide" their products from incompatible devices, as it would eliminate situations such as yours, it is the consumer's responsibility to be informed. I would be far more sympathetic to your plight if the developer was deceptive. But, as you acknowledge, the developer made it very clear that the HD version does not work on Galaxy devices.

Normally I steer clear of threads like this, because nothing I write will convince you that you were at fault. However, as a member of this (awesome) community, I can't just let you imply that the developer is somehow being dishonest or ripping people off. You were careless. Admit your mistake, contact the developer, and try to get a refund.

This has nothing to do with the developer, it is a bug in the updated Samsung firmware, that prohibits installs that are over 30 MB.
You can read more about it here:
People can't download our specific product in Android Market - Stack Overflow

It will work as soon as Samsung gets their act together and finally release a firmware without huge gamebreaking bugs.

I know its a bug with Samsung. But every other developer with large games just has a single small apk that runs and downloads the rest of the data. It would have made more sense do that.

I'm not buying anything from the web based Android Market anymore. If I had just went to the market on the phone the full version wouldn't have shown up and it never would have been an issue.

But I would still be stuck with two halves of a game that don't talk to each other, so still lame.

If you read my first post you will see I said I am definitely at fault.

You're a very typical ignorant person who has an inflated sense of entitlement. Absolute refusal to accept blame. Always has to be someone else. You can do no wrong. Grow up. The requirements and everything were extremely clearly posted. You screwed up. You are saying it is reasonable for the developer to change the entire way the game works just because you can't read.

I said it before and I will say it again, I take blame for not reading.

Your a complete ass who thinks he's so perfect and can just go off on someone you don't know for saying something you don't like. I don't think I'm the one who needs to grow up.

Let me break it down.

I screwed up and just wanted to share my experience so others don't do the same.

I also don't like having a game split in half and that has nothing to do with buying the wrong version. I'm not the only one. 4 out of 7 people who have Part 2 have commented the same thing about this.

Hi.

Android Market official limit for applications is 50 MB.
Samsung devices violates this rule, and have own limit set to 30 MB for no reason.
Android market cannot filter out devices by manufacturer nor device name nor file size, only by features, screen resolution, CPU architecture, OpenGL ES version, etc.
Reason why You don’t see e.g. “Samurai II: Vengeance THD” is because it is filtered by Tegra processor and/or minimal screen resolution.
AirAttack HD supports resolution from 800 x 480 to THD resolutions, ARMv7 CPU architecture and OpenGL ES2 filtering is set, but all this is valid also for Samsung devices.
We tried our best in given time frame to solve this Samsung problem fair way for users and for us -
AirAttack HD Part 2 version is cheaper than Full version due to discomfort of having two parts.
We wrote it in description.

Maybe it is time for Android users to start blame big companies responsible for this mess and don't blame small developers like us.
Please ask Google, why You can buy 41 MB application although Your device is not capable to download it.
Please ask Samsung, why there is download limit set to 30 MB although Android Market has 50 MB.

Very true, they are definitely the ones that are causing the issue.

Did you guys look into the idea of hosting the files and just putting a small apk on the market?

Great game for old schoolers like me who liked games like 1943, Rayden, Twin Cobra and Sky Soldiers. I love the various power ups. Reminds me of Sky Solders. Homing missiles are my favourite.
