Inspire 4G or Evo 4G?

Thinking of jumping from VZW to someone else. Which would you choose? The inspire is a much newer device, but no FFC, and its on ATT, and there 4G isnt even turned on yet, but is free at Costco. The Evo has that kickstand that is cool, comes in white, has unlimited internet and is cheaper (monthly charge I mean), but is about to the way of the dodo bird, and Im not in a Sprint 4G area.

What would you do?

plus the evo comes with an extra $10 a month charge just for being a smartphone on sprint. The inspire is just like the evo minus the ffc and kickstand but the inspire is running the newest version of htc sense.

Evo has 1st generation snapdragon processor with Adreno 200 GPU

Inspire has 2nd generation snapdragon processor with Adreno 205 GPU

The CPU is nearly identical but Adreno 205 is four times faster than Adreno 200

So if graphic intensive functions ie. gaming is a factor in your decision, go with the Inspire.

... next in line is the Adreno 220

well considering that the Evo is still pretty popular despite it's age (not that old but pretty old in the tech world). it's still a great deal because it's such a feature packed device.
But then again the Inspire is such a good deal on AT&T. with so much features for $99.

since you said that you aren't in sprints 4G coverage the Inspire might be a better choice for you.
or if your willing to stay with verizon and wait a bit you could get the Thunderbolt. has everything the Evo has and it's on Verizons LTE network.

These were my thoughts, so I thought I'd quote them. I love my inspire so far..

I've been very impressed with both the EVO I used for some time, and even more so with my HTC Inspire 4G. A long time concurrent customer with AT&T as well as Verizon, I've had great service with AT&T.

What many are unaware of is Apple used sub par telephone chipsets that were not 100% compatible with AT&T's network. Thus dropped calls with iPhones ONLY, were the norm.

I am a hard core smartphone enthusiast that carries at least two phones daily. When my iPhone would drop, I could immediately redial with my BlackBerry and enjoy a clear call with no concern of dropping.

Fast forward to today. Of all the Android phones I have, the Inspire is my favorite by far.

AT&T is working aggressively to roll out 4G. In the meantime I'm enjoying excellent 3G speed and reliability.

You can't put a price tag on unlimited data. Coming from Verizon you already know how good that is, sure there may be a $10.00 bump on data with Sprint, but you are still getting unlimited data.

Key differences.

Evo:
Unlimited Data
Front Facing Camera

Inspire
More efficient gpu/cpu
More ram 768, against the 512 on the Evo

Other than that they are practically the same. I would go with the Evo because of the unlimited data. What good is 4g speeds with a 2gb cap?

2 gigs is a LOT for a phone, especially if you use wifi at work and home. A very small minority exceeds 2 gb on any plan/carrier, and you'd basically have to be trying to do it regularly.

To the OP:

If it helps, I have 2 EVOs, my gf gets a hefty discount on the monthly bill with sprint, and I'm strongly considering selling the EVOs to pay the cancellation fee so I could pick up the inspire or thunderbolt.

You can believe the recent reports that Sprint's customer service has improved, but I have never experienced worse customer service. They've lied, broken my phones, lied again, told me to make an asurion claim for a new phone and they'd waive the 100 dollar deductible - never happened. I have no 3g anywhere near my house even though the map shows solid orange(best service) for miles in every direction.

Sprint has been an absolute nightmare... I'm not the only one... If you search for EVO glass separation, EVO light leakage, EVO cracks power button, EVO b spot, EVO broken USB port, you'll find numerous stories like mine of broken EVOs, and sprint's refusal to do simple warranty work.

While 2GB is alot of data, some of us use ALOT more than that. I am one of the lucky ones that is grandfathered into the AT&T unlimited data plan.. Which is good, seeing as I've already used 3.7 GB of data this month, and our bill cutoff is not until the 28th of March. :D

I have had unlimited data for years with AT&T.

That said it's not going to last much longer (years end) before all carriers switch everyone to tiered pricing. Therefore I would highly suggest that one does not decide based on current data plans.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TRUE UNLIMITED DATA

Companies aren't stupid, don't think because it says unlimited data, that it's without limits. No company does this LOL. Sorry, just had to get that out there. You best believe that once you reach a certain threshold, they will throttle you down to a lower connection, or possibly even disconnect you if they deem necessary. Also don't think that you're going to get away with tethering your PS3, Xbox 360 or laptop on a consistent basis, eventually they'll detect this and if you're not paying for the premium tether fees, you could be looking at a substantial bill.

As per Sprints policy ... "Sprint reserves the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred; and to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if usage either exceeds (a.) 5GB/month in total unless specified otherwise or (b.) 300MB/month while off-network roaming. 1024KB equal 1MB. 1024MB equal 1GB."

LOL, 5GB is hardly unlimited.

I know I'm late to the party, but, as a rule of thumb, one should ALWAYS consider the carrier of choice first, then a device...

No point having the latest and greatest device etc, and you can't even use it in your area, i.e. home and work.
